vikes sign mckinnie to extension
The Minnesota Vikings on Friday night reached agreement with standout left offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie on a new seven-year, $48.5 million contract, team and league sources confirmed. The deal takes the fifth-year veteran out of the unrestricted free agent market next spring.

Overpaid, but he is a solid guy. Even though he isn't a great player, he deserved some money because he helps anchor that line.

wait, what the hell, do they now have to garuntee steve hutchinsons contract now? because in the conntract that steve signed said he has to be the highest paid linemen on the team and that essentially was the infamous 'poison pill' and steve right now is getting $47 million I thought?

no, they do not have to guarantee hutch's whole deal. they made sure to skirt around that very carefully. mckinnie's deal amounts to a slightly lower average than hutch's, which keeps it within the guidelines of the stipulation.
