He's actually impressed me with some of his deep passes this season. He's managed to overthrow some of his deep receivers when I just knew that the ball would fall short. I underestimated him.

Watching your offense was painful, not that ours was amazing, but because it brought back bad memories of Mooch and his WCO offense.

Your offense is just so bland, short passes and runs, nothing to throw a defense off guard.

Was going to type the same thing, so I'll just say, "SECOND SECOND".

Last week against the Bills, a team whos biggest defensive weakness was the running game, we only had 13 called running plays (and 3 QB scrambles)

you guys were stonewalled on every run, except for the draws on third and long.

Second play of the game was a run to the right for a 6 yard gain (though there was a defensive penalty so it doesn't show in the stats). Third play was a reverse for 5 yards. The next called run was a 5 yard gain on 1st and 10 from the buffalo 24. The last play of the opening drive was a run off left tackle for 9 yards.

Out of 6 called running plays on the opening drive, four of them gained five yards or more, and only one was on third and long... how is that being "stonewalled on every run"?

Also, against the Redskins in the season opener, the team only averaged 2.5 yards per carry, but they continued to keep the ball on the ground and it paid off. I have no idea why they got away from that strategy when it was a close game throughout and there was no reason to give up on the run and attempt 47 passes and only 13 runs (3 of the running plays were called passes that turned into scrambles.

It just didn't make any sense to give up on the run when our line should have been able to wear the Bills out and making the running game easier as the game progressed.

did you see the first play of the game? -2 yard run.
so, adding the results of the second run, it's still 3rd and 7.
that mewelde moore run was on 3rd AND 14. Who cares if they give up 9 yards? it's just a shorter field goal.

chester taylor had like 5 runs of 1 yard or less

In my opinion, Brad Johnson is a little too conservative. He doesnt give our offense any chances at the big play, and when your going to short pass 90% of the time, teams are going to catch on eventually.

In the game against the Lions, we probably had opportunities for the long pass play, but Johnson was always looking to the check-down reciever.

I think we need to give Tarvaris Jackson a shot at the end of the season to see if he can get something going. Because if we arent putting # on the board with our offense, we arent going to have anything to lose by putting a rookie in when it comes playoff time...

But they've had those types of runs in every game, and the Bills matchup was the only one where they went away from the run. Had they continued to mix the run plays in more often it would have (or at least should have) started to pay off in the second half as your smaller D-line started to wear out.

Hopefully it was a fluke as somebody else said, and not a trend. Childress' mantra before that game was "Run the ball for QUANTITY, not quality." Yet he only called 13 total runs... he messed up, IMO.

good point. buffalo kept pounding away and eventually was able to break off a few bigger chunks (10+ yds). i think mcgahee ended up at 28/72.. so yeah, quantity.
