Default Berrian leaves Minnesota without a deal en route to Oaktown

http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008...t_with_wr.html

In other news, wide receiver Bernard Berrian visited Minnesota and is now on his way back to the West Coast where he will visit the Oakland Raiders. They made defensive tackle Tommy Kelly the highest-paid player at his position Thursday despite the fact that he is coming off a torn ACL.

NFL insiders speculate the reason Oakland has been throwing around such big money—the Raiders also re-signed running back Justin Fargas and are in the mix for right tackle Kwame Harris—is because players are so reluctant to visit, let alone sign with Al Davis' team.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus is hoping to use the Raiders' situation to up the ante in Minnesota or here with Berrian. One veteran agent—not Rosenhaus—suggested the premium the Raiders have to pay is at least $1 million per year for middle of the road free agents.

Rosenhaus wants way too much $$$ for Berrian. Bernard would have better stats with a better QB. LOL
I wonder how much Rosenhaus makes each year?

He may want a lot of $$ for him but I really think Oakland will take him. He has the speed Al likes and they have the money and the need for a WR. I do think Minny takes a look at a guy like Bryant JOhnson

Do you mean as bad as the season before 2006?
I didn't see any of their games in 2007. But I'd like to see how Russel works out?

Yes, they were much improved from 2006

Russell is one of the main reason why I think they need a WR like Berrian. He has #1 potential IMO and they need a playmaker, also like I saod before Al loves speed and has the money, combine that with what I said about Russell and I would be shocked to not see him in Oakland.

I personally don't see Russel as more than an average QB. Sure he did fine at LSU, but look at the Recievers that had first round talent; Bowe, Davis, Doucet and at one time Skylar Green. So he tore up Notre Dame, all he did was chuck the ball, and watch his receiver make an adjustment and there you go, highlight. I don't think he's bad per se, I just see a David Carr type production out of him.

Now Berard Berrian, is a stud IMO. And Al Davis' system could actually benefit Russell's style of play, but neither him or Brady Quinn impressed me as much as Andre Woodson and Matt Ryan did this past year. And neither had the game breakers Russell had his couple of years.

That's possible, but they are in a position to where they could really add some offensive talent for him though. Adding a guy like Berrian and maybe drafing a McFadden then all of a sudden he has weapons.
