Nate Burleson: Vikings Make Qualifying Offer

Update: Minnesota made a qualifying offer to Burleson on Thursday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. The Vikings made him a $712,000 one-year contract offer. Another team could sign the restricted free agent, but would have to give up a third-round draft pick as compensation to sign him.
Recommendation: Burleson and the Vikings are working on a long-term contract but say the process has been held up because of delays in the start of free agency related to negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. It looks like the Vikings will re-sign Burleson despite an unproductive and injury-plagued 2005 season.
