Cox, Duval And Perrett Extend
Montreal - Montreal Alouettes VP and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that defensive back Chip Cox, punter/kicker Damon Duval and guard Jeff Perrett have all signed contract extensions with the team.
Cox (5'9", 185 lbs) had another solid season in 2007, leading the team with 115 yards and a touchdown on three interception returns. He also led the Alouettes with 10 knockdowns and recorded 58 defensive tackles. The 24-year-old will begin his third season in Montreal in 2008.
Duval (6'0", 193 lbs) was the league's top punter in 2007 and was named a CFL All-Star team for the first time as a result. He led the CFL with 127 punts for 5,966 yards - an average of 47 yards per punt. He was good on 32 of 45 field goal attempts and added 68 kickoffs for 4,359 yards for an average of 64.1 per kickoff - also tops in the league. At 27, Duval will begin his fourth season as an Alouette in 2008.
Perrett (6'7", 320 lbs) played his first season in the CFL in 2007, starting in one of the eight games in which he participated. At 22, he is considered one of the organization's rising stars.
