The Mountain West Conference proposed Tuesday to radically change college football's postseason structure.
Craig Thompson, the Mountain West's commissioner, made his case at a fancy Pasadena hotel during the annual spring meetings of Bowl Championship Series commissioners.
Wow, this proposal was so flawed that I'm surprised anyone looked at it. Did it look ridiculous to anyone else? Just a pathetic attempt by the MWC to get into the BCS bonanza. If they were smart they would have made a proposal that included greater access to the BCS for all conferences, not just themselves. Now their proposal has no support from anyone but themselves.
Just more evidence that all we really need is a playoff anyway. No controversy there, conference champs are in and a selection committee determines the other 5. Sixteen team playoff with higher seeds having home games. Goes the month of December. So simple, yet so difficult to implement for some reason...
