Default New Stadium!

ESPN is now reporting that the Giant's new stadium is going to cost over one billion dollars. The cost is going to be shared with the Jets, but one billion dollars is just so much money, even for two NFL owners. The new stadium will hold 81,000 people, and be opened in 2010. I personally don't see why they are even building a new stadium, as the current one is not modern, but definitely not outdated. The only things it sounds like they are adding, are:

1) A retractable roof
2) Railroad access
3) Retail stores around the stadium
4) Going from Giant's stadium to a jointly own Giants and Jet's stadium
5) More seats

Now to me, these changes aren't worth one billion dollars, but I guess if you have the money then go for it. It is going to be paid 100% privately, with no money from the state, so its not coming from the taxpayers of New Jersey, and it will be nice to watch Giants games in a new stadium, but I know I can come up with a whole lot of things that can be done with the money that will be more productive and better spent.

The cost of Dallas new place once everything is done is said to be 1.6 billion so you are getting off cheap The roof will allow a SB to be played there, nice thing since Manning will be in 7-8 year when it opens. The thing about the stores is if it anything like going on in Dallas is that want the stadium to make money year around and not having to depend on concerts and such renting it out. Do they hav in concept plans of it that could be fun to look at.

No, I don't think they have finalized any of the plans yet. They had a plan out about a year ago, that was just going to be the Giants stadium, but then when the Jets were denied for a West-side Manhatten stadium, which would be used in the 2012 Olympics, the plans were revised. It is however going to be the first time two NFL franchises are going to co-own a stadium. I don't think its a major issue, other than small things, such as colors, and the name of the stadium. I will try to post any updates there are to the story here...
