In my opinion its just too early to say Eli is a bust. He had his good games, and he had his bad games. In no way am I trying to say he had a great season, but I think there were a lot of positives which can be built upon next year. His thowing was one of the negatives this year, but that is a physical skill, that can be corrected by the coaching staff. He was so hesistant in picking a receiver that I think he tried to throw touch passes. When he becomes more confident in his decsions, he can start to put some more zip on the ball. Now if he underperforms this year, than I think you have a valid argument, but you can't judge a quarterback on a season and a half of football.

there is no way Eli is a bust, but he is a long way from being a super bowl winner, as is the Giants team. they probably will be back in the playoffs, but they need a lot of things to go right for them to win it all and i just don't see it happening.

With a truly great quarterback you can. Look at Moon, Favre, Marino, Brady, Roethlisberger, Palmer a year and a half into their respective careers. Either you have it or you don't. Yes, of course you can always improve, but the true greats, the Hall of Famers and Super Bowl winners, all had impressive talent at the beginning of their careers. Eli can and likely will improve, but he'll never see a Superbowl.

what about Brad Johnson or Dilfer. they both sucked for a long time, but they are super bowl champions. you don't have to be one of the greats to win the super bowl.

While some guys you could judt tell early in that they had what it took to be a great QB others needed more time. Bradshaw may not be a top 10 QB in most peoples mind but he did win 4 SB and when he started out he sucked. Johnny Unitas was cut by the Steelers, Kurt Warner was cut by the Packers, Jim Plunkett I think was cut by the Patts. Some times the QB has to find the right fit for his skills. Eli should be a good QB I do not know if him and the Giants are the right fit to make it to a SB, only time will tell. NO matter how great Marino was he never won a SB and Moon never even got there.

Ya, you can say that, but those quarterbacks were all the right QB's for the right system, with the right players. Put Ben on the Giants and Eli on the Steelers, and I think they would both fail. A lot of immediate talent, such as those examples have more to do with the talent around them, and how they fit into their respective systems. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from Ben or anyone else, but he is in the perfect system for him, and has some great talent...

Ahh!!! don't ever say nothing bad about Dilfer where I can read it!!! I love Trent Dilfer. I was so happy for him when Big Ben beat his record for worst stats ever in the SB by the winning QB. I digress. Dilfer and Johnson didn't win Super Bowls either one of them. They just happened to be on the team that won, and they each got rings for it. Their job was just not to screw it up.

You're right about Ben. I've been saying the same thing about Brady for years. If either he or Ben played for the Saints or Lions, most people wouldn't even know who they were. I feel the same about Eli. I don't think the Giants are a good fit for him. I think a team that is less dependent on the QB, like Bears or Ravens, would be better.

You could say the same thing about Joe No Show MVP if he was not on the 49ers he would not have done so well. How about if Archie Mannings was the QB of the Cowboys are the Steelers he would be in the HOF.

Very true. Steve Young was a Tampa joke until he became a SF star as well, and Don't you think Warren Moon could have had a ring if he played for someone better than the Oilers and Seahawks? And you, as a Cowboy fan, probably see that Bledsoe was considered a washed-up mightabeen until this year. It's all about the right place at the right time. I just think Eli Manning hasn't found the right place yet.
