‘Eli Will Win a Super Bowl’ Says Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning was quick to defend his brother only a day after winning his first Super Bowl. Peyton promised that Eli would follow in his footsteps and then some.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that Eli will lead his team to a Super Bowl, probably more than one,” Peyton said. “I know how hard he works. There’s no question he’s going to be fine.”
Watch out Giants fans — There is a little optimism coming your way! I know most of you have already labeled Eli as a bust but, like Peyton, I think Eli is on the right path and will lead this team to a Super Bowl. I realize all [or most] of you want to hear that he has accuracy problems, that he throws too many interceptions and that he’s not a team leader. Dare I say his accuracy has improved each of the last three seasons; he’s thrown 48 touchdowns over the last two years and has proven the ability to lead his team in the fourth quarter.
The fact is that media and fans alike have not given Eli enough time. Everyone expected him to be Peyton the second he stepped onto the field and when that didn’t happen he was given up on. It’s usually a five-year swing before quarterbacks really find their “groove,” so I am not lost on Eli yet. Personally, I think Peyton hit the nail on the head

I think Peyton should shut the **** up......
I think it was more like losing Amani Toomer and to a lesser degree Luke Pettigout, that did Eli in this year.....Not too many people realize what Toomer brought to the Giants receiving corps..... When he went down and after Pettigout too, Eli's production drastically went down also.
Why? Because ****ing Tim Carter (and David Tyree) had a golden opportunity to step up into the spotlight and instead of (literally) taking the ball and running with it, they didn't do ****. After Pettigout went down, for more than half of the snaps, Shockey was held in to block in both run AND passing plays, to give Eli a little more time.
When you lose a a guy like Toomer, a guy that isn't afraid of getting hit on crossing patterns and is also a legitimate deep threat, it makes it easy for the opposing defenses...... Key in on Burress (either straight out double him up, or cover two) and send the house. Either you get the sack, or you get to keep Shockey in. Either way, now you're forced to pass to either Tyree or Carter, or worse yet, try to force it in to Burress.
Later in the season, Eli trying to force the ball to Burress is exactly what he was doing..... Why? Because after a few games with too many easy drops by Tyree and Carter, if I were Eli, I'd be trying to press for Burress every chance I got too. In a nutshell, that's what happened to Eli this year.
All that other bull**** about him having the "Manning Curse" and like his Brother (before XLI) and Father, Eli will never win anything, is just what it is.... Bull****.
After Rex Grossman's ****ty performance all year and especially during the Super Bowl, I'd bet Lovie Smith and half of all the Bears fans would give their left nut for Eli Manning.
You just watch and see...... In the meantime, Peyton needs to worry about getting himself to the SuperBowl next year and not if Eli will make it there.

Why would you think Bears fans would want to trade a young, annoyingly inconsistent but promising, harshly criticized quarterback for another young, annoyingly inconsistent but promising, harshly criticized quarterback?
The Bears' QB situation has been messier than it is now for quit a long time, believe me.

You sure it was Peyton that said it? And not that guy that looks just like him with a moustache from the Sprint commercial?
