Other than the fact that SF has been the most active team in free agency except possibly, the NE Patriots, I totally agree. Another great post and we even got more eomticons. We can always count on you, Vdavis.

ive actually been pleased with our drafts as of late but it seems like the first two rounds never work out that great. Osi Umenyiora was a 3rd rounder, Justin Tuck was a 3rd(maybe 4th?) rounder, uhmm Gerris Wilkinson 3rd rounder, Barry Coefield 4th rounder
then our 1st and 2nd round jems: Sheli, Corey Webster, Tim Carter, etc. etc.

Osi was picked in the 2nd

id rather my team do nothing, then trade away our starting RB (i know it had to be done), lose both reserve DT's, a couple of special team standouts, and have a star linebacker disgruntled becuase we didnt give him a market deal.
Not to mention passing on the signing of steinbach, and listening to some peoples weird hopes that archuletta will get cut and sign with the bears.

Jones time in Chicago was done. Angelo could have kept him one more year. But the money and pick can be used elsewhere now.
The Bears still currently have Pro Bowl Special teamer Brendon Adyandeja and Adrian Peterson. Worrell & Johnson arent worth the money they signed for to be just special team standouts. The Bears will find other players to fill these roles. Since Lovie excepts all non starters to be able to perform on Special teams.
As of today the Bears have only lost one DT, and are in contact with the 2nd DT Ian Scott. Since the uncertainity of Tank Johnson and jail time.
Did you see the contract Steinback got. Did you really want Chicago to spend that much of a OG. If Steinbach had signed that contract in Chicago future KEY free agents wouldnt have been staying around Chicago. I would much rather have Tommie Harris, Nathan Vasher, Charles Tillman, and hell even Lance Briggs kept in Chi-town over Steinbach. Rubeun Brown can be resigned for much less and give the rookie time to be groomed. Dont forget the future contract of Rex Grossman if he excels in 2007, and earns another contract.
Weird hopes Archuletta will get cut. Have you read the rumors lately. Mainly off of CNNSI.com. Washington had owed him a 5 million roster bonus as of March 15. The date got pushed back. Do you really think the Skins would keep a "S" for 10 million that they benched for 5 games, and then deactivated for the final game of the season. When Archuleta gets cut, he is a Bear within days. He flurushed in this system, and fills the Bears immediate need of help at the "S". The position in which the Bears let two below average "S" leave.

Yall got Vonta Leach to agree to an offersheet from yall.. but he is RFA so the Texans can match it.
it was for 4 years, 8.5 million, 1.5 guaranteed.
Dont get your hopes up, we want him back and I dont think we will hesitate to match that.

i know jones time was done, thats why i said it needed to be done.
i know we are still "quietly" trying to sign Ian Scott, but its not a done deal yet. Also with Tank out for 4 weeks its gonna be a huge hit. We don't know what we have with Dusty so he isnt a lock.
I agree on the Steinbach contract, I was just adding fuel to the fire along with the Archuletta statement. But I dont think Archuletta is the answer for us at Safety, especially from what I have heard recently from rams fans.

and we didnt extend Manning...
ants | E. Manning contract update
Mon, 19 Mar 2007 08:24:10 -0700
Mike Garafolo, of the Star-Ledger, reports the New York Giants have not extended the contract of QB Eli Manning, contrary to earlier reports. The team reportedly exercised a "buy-back" option of Manning's contract earlier this month, a move that was made in order to keep Manning under contract through the 2012 season. Manning would reportedly have become a free agent following the 2007 season. "It is the same contract that was reported as six years and $45-54 million back in 2004. All of the buyback bonus and simple escalators that have been earned are included in those same numbers that were initially reported. Eli's contract goes through 2009. We exercised a buyback which was intended to be exercised all along and has been planned for accordingly. There is nothing "new" about Eli's current contract status," the team released in a statement Monday, March 19. Instead of Manning becoming a free agent at the end of next season, the team paid a reported $5 million buy-back bonus to restore the 2008 and 2009 seasons to his contract. Also, Manning's base salaries for the next three seasons, according to the NFLPA, will be $6 million, $8 million and $8.5 million.
