• April 3, 2008
The Super Bowl champion Giants will make their 2008 season debut against the Carolina Panthers.
The game kicks off a four-game preseason schedule that includes a nationally-televised meeting with the Cleveland Browns and a rematch against the New England Patriots, who they beat 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.
The NFL announced the preseason schedule for all teams today, although the majority of dates and times will be decided in the future.
One game locked in is the Giants and Browns. The Giants will host Cleveland on Monday, Aug. 18, in a game that will be televised on ESPN.
After the Browns, the Giants will face the Jets in Week 3, followed by a home game against the Patriots to wrap up the preseason.
The game between the Giants and Jets will mark their 40th consecutive preseason meeting.
In addition to the Giants, the Jets meet the Browns in their preseason opener. They will follow with a home game against the Washington Redskins.
The Jets then close the preseason with a second straight game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. It will mark the eighth straight year the Jets and Eagles have met in the preseason.
The NFL is expected to officially announce its regular-season schedule in two weeks.
