Townsend in town
The Patriots are hosting free-agent cornerback Deshea Townsend at Gillette Stadium today. Townsend (5-10, 190) is an eight-year veteran. He is also considering re-signing with the Steelers.

"He's having a wonderful visit and it's coming down to the wire," said Peter Schaffer, Townsend's agent. "We're moving pretty quick."

Townsend's visit comes on the same day the Patriots announced the release of veteran cornerback Tyrone Poole. Townsend has spent his entire career with the Steelers after being selected in the fourth round of the 1998 draft.

he would brign some great depth at the CB postition, something that really hurt the Pats last year.

that and it doesn't really hurt the steelers too bad, they have mcfadden, ike taylor and colclough ready to step in. Pitt is always seems to be ready for when players leave

The Patriost did just cut Poole so they may be looking to bring in a CB, I wonder if it's Townsen or Law?
