League sources last night indicated Patriots coach Bill Belichick has long been enamored with Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss and would welcome the opportunity to bring him to Foxboro for the right price. Moss is on the block after two disappointing seasons in Oakland. The Raiders have worked on a deal that would send the mercurial wide receiver to Green Bay, with the Packers offering quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Raiders holding out for a first-round pick, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Packers don’t seem in much of a rush to pull the trigger, however, which has left an opening for the Pats. A source said Belichick believes he could motivate Moss to play and that he’d have the locker room support system to back him up, thanks to high-character veterans like Tom Brady, Richard Seymour and Rodney Harrison, among others. ... Word out of Oakland is the 30-year-old wants to play on a contender before his career ends. The Raiders are intent on moving him following a miserable 2006 that saw him post career-worst numbers in receptions (42), yards (553), and touchdowns (three)

If the Patriots were to go through with this deal.. it would be a very high risk.. one that isin't needed considering there's great FA WRs that have a better work ethic than him.. I wouldn't do it unless it was for a 2nd or 3rd rounder.. or maybe Matt Casell and a 3rd rounder.

ugh, I don't want Moss on the Pats. Too much (potential) headache. Some players are just plain poison (ie TO) on a team and regardless of their talent just arent' worth it.

I would love that scenario, I would take matt cassel in a heartbeat for him. No guy with a me first attitude is worth having on your team. It be great if he went to new england.

WHAT IS THIS DEEP THREAT STUFF?THEY NEED GOOD RECEIVERS PERIOD .GUYS WHO CANT CATCH THE BALL OVER THE MIDDLE UNDER PRESSURE AND RUN THERE ROUTES PROPERLY ..I SAID IN ANOTHER THREAD THE PATS WON THREE SB WITHOUT A SO CALLED DEEP THREAT.BRANCH WASN'T A SO CALLED DEEP THREAT LOOK AT HIS STATS .ANY RECEIVER CAN GET OPEN LONG IF THE RIGHT PLAY IS CALLED AND EXECUTED PROPERLY .THE PATS DON'T NEED MOSS OR OWENS .moulds or horn would be worth taking a chance on Imo .they could get them for short money and short term contracts or they could wait and see what other players are released by other teams because of cap room problems .the pats dont need locker room cancers with drug problems or quiters .
