Nothing ‘off’ about offseason - N.E. Patriots - BostonHerald.com

Since surrendering an 18-point lead en route to losing the AFC Championship Game last January to the Indianapolis Colts, 38-34, the Patriots [team stats] have been busy. They’ve conducted one of their most active and prolific offseasons in memory, re-stocking and re-loading the team.
While the three-time Super Bowl champions have always been considered in the mix of elite teams, it’s hard to remember them being such a prohibitive favorite at the start of a season.
To follow all the moves as they occurred, here’s what happened since that Jan. 21 loss.
Jan. 23: Signed C Brian Barthelmes, P Danny Baugher, OL Sean Bubin, RB Quadtrine Hill, TE Matt Kranchick, P Tom Malone and DL Santonio Thomas from the practice squad.

Feb. 17: Assigned franchise tag to CB Asante Samuel [stats].
Feb. 21: Released S Tebucky Jones.
Mar. 2: Re-signed FB Heath Evans [stats]; OL Billy Yates; released RB Corey Dillon [stats].
Mar. 3: Signed free agent LB Adalius Thomas; free agent TE Kyle Brady; free agent RB Sammy Morris.
Mar. 5: Acquired WR Wes Welker from Miami via trade.
Mar. 6: Re-signed LB Larry Izzo [stats].
Mar. 13: Signed free agent WR Donte Stallworth; free agent WR Kelley Washington.
Mar. 19: Signed free agent CB Eddie Jackson.
Mar. 20: Re-signed WR Bam Childress.
Mar. 21: Re-signed S Rashad Baker; LB Corey Mays; OL Gene Mruczkowski; DL Mike Wright.
Apr. 5: Re-signed OL Wesley Brit.
Apr. 17: Re-signed WR Kelvin Kight.
Apr. 24: Signed free agent CB Tory James.
Apr. 28: Drafted S Brandon Meriweather (first round, 24th overall), DL Kareem Brown (fourth round).
Apr. 29: Acquired WR Randy Moss via trade with Oakland. Drafted OL Clint Oldenburg (fifth round), LB Justin Rogers (sixth round), CB Mike Richardson (sixth round), RB Justise Hairston (sixth round), OL Corey Hilliard (sixth round), LB Oscar Lua (seventh round), OL Mike Elgin (seventh round).
May 8: Signed rookie free agents S Larry Anam, LB Kyle Bissinger, QB Matt Guitierrez, TE Jake Nordin, RB Quinton Smith, LB Justin Warren, DL Zach West.
May 11: Re-signed CB Gemera Williams.
May 21: Re-signed LB Junior Seau.
May 29: Re-signed LB Eric Alexander; CB Randall Gay.
June 7: Signed free agent WR C.J. Jones.
June 8: Signed free agent DT Rashad Moore, free agent DT Kenny Smith. Released OL Tony Case.
July 14: Signed OL Hilliard, LB Lua, CB Richardson.
July 16: Did not come to terms with franchised CB Samuel on a long-term extension.
July 17: Re-signed WR Troy Brown [stats]; signed LB Rogers, RB Hairston.
July 18: Signed OL Oldenburg.
July 19: Signed free agent LB Chad Brown.

Well, their LB core is still solid, but is at the risk of injury, 30+ club over there too. Defense is really aging, but their offense is pretty solid. They can just hope that Maroney can carry the load, in going back to what PatriotsPride said, it justs matters who gets hurt.
