Disgruntled Samuel expected to report to Patriots next week
By Adam Schefter | NFL Network
Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs was the first disgruntled franchise player to report to training camp, Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was next.
And now, the last of the franchise holdouts is preparing to sign his tender and get back to football and the field. Cornerback Asante Samuel is expected to report to the Patriots sometime next week, in enough time to be ready for the regular-season opener against the New York Jets.
Asante Samuel has kept himself in tip-top shape, but will he be ready for the Patriots' season opener?
Samuel has been working out in Florida and is said to be in top-notch shape, which Patriots coach Bill Belichick will get to judge on his own soon enough.
Samuel apparently recognizes the importance of getting back on the field and not missing any regular-season game checks. By reporting at some point next week, he will have sent a message, eliminated the training-camp risk of injury and still gotten to camp in enough time to get in football shape.
I love how BB and the gang didnt budge and he came back just in time. He is a good guy to have in your back field. Now I just hope business doesnt interfer with his game. It shouldn't considering it would be a bad business move.

This will be an iteresting year. Time to see if he;s the real deal, or just mooching of a great pass rush.
i just remember in days past, the guys that would sit out camp, and pre fantasy nobody cared if the vets didn't play in preseason, they would be more susceptible to injury, something to keep an eye on

This is something I'm worried about too. I hope Samuel was keeping in shape during this hold out, or he could get himself injured in the next few weeks. We shall find out.
This is great... Samuel and Hobbs out there, with Randall Gay to share time. They are looking pretty darn good at that position.

Why? The Pats should have a great pass rush this year as well...
