With Eugene Wilson held back in minicamp for unspecified reasons and Rodney Harrison rehabbing his surgically repaired knee, the first-unit safety tandem consisted of Jones and James Sanders. Look out!
It’s possible Harrison could be ready for the opener, but that can hardly be counted on given the nature of his injury (three torn ligaments, including the ACL). The Pats also have to assume he may not return to pre-injury form until well into the season. The revolving door at safety last season (eight starters were used) killed the Pats’ chances of a three-peat, and there remains uncertainty to this day.
