FOXBORO - During much of the season, it was hard to imagine any offensive line performing better than the Patriots [team stats]’.
Tom Brady [stats] had so much time to throw, he could recite the alphabet forward and backward before delivering the football. He was so well-protected, you would think he worked in the Oval Office.
As Buffalo safety Donte Whitner said after the Bills’ 56-10 loss to the Pats on Nov. 18, “Their offensive line is playing great football right now. They don’t want you to touch Tom Brady or even talk to him. It’s harder to get to Brady than to cover their receivers.”
The past two games have been different. Brady hasn’t had endless time to throw. He’s been pressured and hounded in the pocket. He’s also been sacked six times in the past two games, twice more than the prior four games.
Members of his offensive line know they have to get back on track, especially with the Steelers in town. They aren’t known as “Blitzburgh” for nothing.
In fact, in the five games Brady has played against the Steelers over his career (including the playoffs), they’ve sacked him 13 times.
