Boston plans parade as Giants gain bulletin board material

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Bill Belichick has got to be cringing.

While his players were keeping their mouths zipped, as always, during Super Bowl week, the mayor of Boston was already planning a victory parade and the Boston Globe was offering an advance sale of a book on the Patriots' undefeated season.

It's called: "19-0: The Historic Championship Season of New England's Unbeatable Patriots."

By Tuesday afternoon, it was off amazon.com, although it is permanently affixed to the Giants' bulletin board.

"If people go out and buy that book before the game, they are going to be (ticked) off," said Brandon Jacobs.

"I think people should go ahead and buy that book and see what happens," said Osi Umenyiora, who, when asked if he was buying the book, said, "I'd try to burn that book."

Antonio Pierce wasn't ordering it, either. "No, because we're writing that last chapter this week and I think we're going to write a good ending," he said.

"I think a lot of people in our locker room will have the last word on that book," said Amani Toomer, with the last word of the day.

The Giants were unaware that a pre-sale was also being offered for a book entitled, "Giants 2008: Super Bowl Champions."

The Patriots' parade, meanwhile, is scheduled for Tuesday in Beantown. Mayor Thomas M. Menino, acknowledging fears that he may be jinxing the Patriots by doing so, said he had no choice but to start the parade planning process. The only possible day for it is Tuesday, which is also Super Tuesday for the pols. Thousands of Bostonians will be off to the polls to vote in the presidential primary, creating a public-safety issue.

"We don't like to talk about any victory before it happens," city spokesperson Dot Joyce told the Boston Herald. "However, the timing of this causes some concern, and for the sake of public safety we had to make some initial plans contingent on whether or not they win."

Said the Giants' Justin Tuck: "I hope (the mayor) can cancel that."

Give bulletin board material to a bunch of children, and they just don't know what to do with it. You see, the idea is you get the bulletin board material, and you use it to inspire yourself in the game... You don't comment on it, like the Giants are, thus giving the other team their own bulletin board material. This is so funny to watch.

That being said, what you have to realize is that the parade will have to be on Tuesday because the Pats will be getting back on Monday, and won't be able to do it that way, and those who are going to the Probowl will have to leave on Wednesday. Tuesday is also the Democratic elections... so they really have to plan it out ahead of time in order to make it so they don't have complete chaos that day. Of course, they're probably going to have complete chaos anyway. Lol.

As far as the book goes, people order ahead of time for everything these days. The book isn't finished yet. The last chapter won't be written until after the Superbowl. Good idea by the Giants to use it though, but they just need to learn how to use it the right way. Lol.

I see the Giants coming out strong on Sunday, and possibly even having a 3 point lead at half time... but then they will have expended all of their energy by the end of the 3rd quarter.

I'll say this leak has helped my plans because I was planning on going to the parade if they won, and now I know when it is. When the Red Sox win you always find out last minute. Ahh the tragedies of being a New England fan.

I've been to both Red Sox parades and after this years I told my friends if the Patriots go 19-0 we have to go to that parade so thats our plan.

Yeah okay, I don't see why you would say that.....I'd be more worried about that old *** defense of yours, and old Rodney getting us a few hundred yards with his attitude, hey how bout Vince Wilfork poking Jacobs in the eye again and getting ejected from the game. I see this game being easily handled by neither team. it'll be a dog fight till the end like the last game. Except Giants needs to be efficient once they have a lead, they know that now, you can't sleep on the Pats. Hey lets have an idea, run the score up on the Pats see how they like it, we have the tools too.
