The most realistic idea with the Saints
People lets use our senses. The Saints defense excelled over their offense in 2005. Remember thay had the 6th or 7th ranking in pass coverage (yard allowed) with [color=Black]Josh Bullocks, Dwight Smith, Mike McKenzie, and Jason Craft (nickel back)! LB is a need but I dont see them drafting a LB with the 2nd pick! OT is a need but the Saints do have a SOLID O-Line, and also the Saints have John Stinchcomb who is a very good player so look for him to be healthy this year at OT. So to cut to the chase, their is no TE in the history of the NFL who is as athletically gifted as Vernon Davis...PERIOD! I see the saints trading down with the Jets or the Raiders and pick up Vernon Davis at one of those picks and pick up an extra 3rd round which they lost to Houston. That deal will give the Saints an opportunity to allocate more talented players in the draft. So with that deal done, the Saints now have 1 pick in each of the first 3 rounds (not including rounds 4-7). In rounds 2 and 3 I see them picking up a LB like Bobby Carpenter, Dameco Ryans, Ernie Simms, Kamerion Wimbley, or D'Qwell Jackson- AT LEAST 1 OF THEM WILL BE AVAILABLE THERE with the 34th pick. And the 3rd round selection won't be wasted on a DE when they already have 2 of the top DE's in the country, what they need is a DT to stop opposing QB's from stepping up in the pocket, and thats where someone like Kyle Williams (LSU) come into the picture. All in all. Imangine this, with the Saints having Vernon Davis in the line-up, that will force defenses to put an extra small guy in especially to gaurd Davis' 4.38 speed! That will free up Deuce and give him more room to run and he won't have to take as many hits and get him injured. All- in -all the Saints won't pass up Vernon Davis b/c that type of talent won't come again until the next decade.
HERE IS MY PREDICTION FOR THE SAINTS:
1st rd (4th or 7th pick traded with Jets or Raiders)...
Vernon Davis
2nd rd(34th pick)...
Dameco Ryans or Chad Greenway
3rd rd(69th or 71st)...
Solid DT

I agree I dont think that Greenway will slip that far Carpenter is more likely. What I have heard is that Davis will not get past the 49ers.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The Saints would be idiotic to draft a TE, when the rush defense was one of the worst in the league, that is why the pass D looked better, teams ran almost play. Ngata is by far the best player for the Saints, he requires a double team almost every play, which would allow the DEs to rush the passer and let the LBs actually do something rather than getting crushed down on by O-linemen.
I would honestly think the worst pick the Saints could make is to draft Davis.

As a representative of the Raiders organization, I would like to offer our first and third round picks for your first round pick. This would allow us to draft AJ Hawk, and you to draft Ngata. Let's make this happen.

nole fan is right about the run defense although the best defense is to keep your offense on the field. greenway is slipping and you never know with LB's on draft day.

I actually have wanted to trade to the Raiders, but I think it will cost too much for the Raiders to do it, 5 picks in round one costs more than 1 and 3, usually first this and next year, plus a few more.
About the offense, Brooks bad decisions, bad play calling, and lack of running game were the problem. With Deuce, and Bennett to keep him healthy, a new coach and OC, the offense should be much better, not to mention that Brees guy ain't bad.

People seem to overlook Hilton was a beast in the receiving game, and Conwell will be back, and was having a great year before he got hurt.
He has better weapons in the receiving game than he ever saw at SD.
