Deuce is getting 5.5 million in bonus money alone next year plus his base of about 4 million, with bush getting prolly close to a 10 mill signing bonus and his contract plus brees making close to 10 mill on his own plus his bonus, they could be about you are talking over 30 million in three players. 1/3 of your salary on three players. yeah that's a winning formula.
Mcallister is so inj. prone anymore that Bush is a good pick. but I have a gut feelling ( I know that there are a lot of gut feelings in this forum) that Bush wont stay with the saints for 4 yrs.
Signing bonuses are prorated over the deal, so Bush's numbers would be a little smaller. Indy has just about 1/2 their cap numbers on Manning, Harrison, Wayne, and Freeney if I saw the numbers right, and they seem to be doing pretty well. Its a matter of role players on both sides of the ball actually making plays. Some do and some don't if the LBs and D-line has a good year, the team will play well, if they don't the Saints will not go far.
Like I have said before money isn't the issue, guys doing there job is.
Brees = Manning - Hilarious
Bush, Duece = Wayne, Harrison - Again Hilarious
nobody = Freeney - Ha Ha
I can understand the Colts paying proven players, but the Saints sinking all that money into some guys that haven't proven much, and don't give me the Brees has done so well in SD crap. He hasn't been manning good.
Role players are good when you have studs, but saints aren't paying studs, they are paying one injury prone stud and unproven guys, yeah that seems comparable. LOL
I was waiting for the colts comparison and what a laughable comparison it is.
OK, and what has that Manning, Wayne, Freeney, Harrison combo won, oh wait not a damn thing. A few playoffs games, no conference championships, but they have been blown out in a few playoff games. They have proven guys in the regular season, but they prove they are mediocre at playoff time.
Did I ever compare the production to the Colts. I compared the paychecks, those are much bigger for the Colts, and yet they are getting a lot more regular season wins and a couple extra playoff games. Whoopie.
When the Colts prove they can compete for titles, come tell me they are getting their moneys worth. I can tell you this though, if the Saints get 15000 extra jersey orders already, and thats just week 1, I think they will be fine paying him a little extra.

You compared them to the colts, saying they have all thier money invested in a few players and they have done alright, I was merely pointing out that the colts have a higher calibur of player to be able to do that.
I never once brought up how it has helped them win.

I never said that it has gotten the Colts anything, I was just saying that I can understand why they pay their players, I cannot understand why the saints are paying so much to thier unproven players.
It was never about wins and you compared them to the Colts to begin with. You said the colts have done alright and now you say they haven't won anything, LOL you basically proved my point for me. If the colts can't win anything paying all those players, what makes you think the Saints can. LOL
Let me rephrase what I am saying here, I think we aren't on the same page, I agree with you in principle. I just think the Saints HAVE to have these guys to sell tickets and build the franchise, and to get these guys you have to pay up
I don't like the fact they are paying these guys this much, but it has to be done to give them a shot to win. When you have a guy like Bush who can change games, you have to make that pick and pay him, when Deuce is healthy, he is a top 5 back, he deserves the money. Brees was great with terrible receivers in SD, but a great TE, he is the possible franchise QB, he has to get that money. The Saints major problem is not those guys, it is guys like Sullivan, Young, and until this year Howard, Gandy and Brooks eating up cap space and not producing. Couple this with injuries and no team can succeed.
I proved your point because I agree with what you say, I might have not shown that earlier, but all the guys I mentioned have earned what they got, and to win you have to pay. I think its hard to win if you are overpaying and guys are underproducing, but if the guys step up and play to the money they get, the team can flourish.
it started as you saying it was a mistake that the texans passed on bush, and I don't think it was a mistake. I also think it was a mistake for the team for the saints to draft bush, but I understand why they did it.
