The scouting department. NFL teams spend millions of dollars scouting players from all across the nation. They spend money flying out and invterviewing these guys as well as having people out there watching all of them in person.
I suppose I should have said a multimillion dollar scouting department.

I am really excited that we picked up a Kicker. I think that Robbie Gould is a huge liability and needs to be upgraded. I hope Angelo finds someone to take over or Gould takes a large step forward.
During this offseason I have really felt that if there is one thing that will kill the Bears this season it will be the kicking game. I was extremely upset that the Bears did not go for Adam Vinatieri. I still don't understand it, but at least they are bringing in some guys to compete.
IMO this plan wouldve made more sense if Grossman had the amount of experience he was supposed to have by now, and your offense was clicking the way an offense with good chemistry does. However, this is not the case, and I don't think that offense will be able to give enough support to the D to carry them to an SB. The picks still could have been used to aid that offense, maybe trying to trade up (am not sure if they tried) and grabbing Marcedes Lewis who would easily be an improvement from day 1, or adding o-line depth which you could've used also.

but i do llike how this looks:
RDE - Alex Brown
RDE - Mark Anderson
NT - Ian Scott
NT - Alfonso Boone
DT - Tommie Harris
DT - Tank Johnson
DT - Dusty Dvoracek
LDE - Adawale Ogunleye
LDE - Israel Idonije
LDE - Michael Haynes
WSLB - Lance Briggs
WSLB - Leon Joe
MLB - Brian Urlacher
MLB - Jamar Williams
MLB - Jeremy Cain
SSLB - Hunter Hillenmeyer
SSLB - Brenden Ayanbadejo
FS - Chris Harris
SS - Mike Brown
S - Brandon Mcgowan
S - Danieal Manning
S - Todd Johnson
the only glaring weaknesses we have, IMO, are:
Todd Johnson
If we lose Urlacher again
If we lose both starting safeties again
I've honestly never seen a defense so infused with youth, depth and talent. I'll give Angelo credit for one thing... that's the sickest D I could draw up.
Regardless of whether you like it or not we need to draft for GOOD depth in the secondary. I don't think there is anyone that could help our secondary in the FA market that we should spend money on. We are thin at safety with Mike Brown's health issues and an injury to Vasher or Tillman could be critical.
GET OVER THE FACT THAT I DON'T THINK NEARLY AS HIGHLY OF TILLMAN AS YOU. We need help in the secondary regardless of whether you like Tillman or not.
I hate being right.

if were doing this for hte present it was a genius move to let every FA we visited go away.
We saved money for hte future, but drafted like we wanted to win this year STFU.
No big surprise taht everyone on these boards thinks you're a moron. Particularly, since you are one.
If you had actually read the post you would have possibly realized there was no argument there. Simply a theory which makes perfect sense as to why they are doing what they are doing.
Whether you agree with their reasons is a completely different thread altogether.
Originally posted by PeanutTillman@Apr 30th '06 @ 9:32 pm I just finished reading it. And my argument stands.
Why, if we were going to win it all this year, did Jerry Angelo not sign one impact FA?
There's a difference between playing for this year and ****ing over your team.
He wanted to bring in Randal El and Archuleta as insurance policies because he wanted to win this year, but the contracts were simply absurd. He didn't feel they were worth it, therefore he didn't offer them that type of money.
I certainly don't blame him for that move. I didn't think either of those guys were worth the money they got. Hell I don't even think Randal El is a very good reciever so that is a move I had no problem with. I had a bigger problem with them not bringing in a veteran kicker like Vinatieri and not drafting a TE which I would have liked. But that isn't what this thread is about.
It's about why they did what they did...not what I would have liked to see them do.
