"Published: Aug 7, 2007 - UPDATED: 11:40 a.m.

JACKSON, Miss. -- The New Orleans Saints suffered a scare this morning when All-Pro left tackle Jammal Brown went down with an injury to his right knee.

Head coach Sean Payton said initial reports are that the injury does not appear to be serious.

"His knee appeared stable on the practice field," Payton said. "But we'll just have to wait and see.

"(Head trainer) Scottie (Patton) felt pretty good about the stability of it. You can tell right away if there's looseness in the joint. And there appeared to be real good stability."

Brown was taken to a local hospital for an MRI, and Payton hopes to have the results back by this afternoon's practice."

MRI will be done soon....a saints fan with "inside sources" says its just a sprain and will only be out 3 to 4 weeks.....

The Saints fanbase on this board consists of one mildly retarded dude named BigGlen that posts once every 5 months or so. I don't think your condolences will reach out that far, sadly.

whatever happened to that guy, think his name was "Rage" or something. I just remember he hated Madden and it was an annual Madden vs. ESPN 2K5 for a while

this year you will see how overrated the Aints are. You can't win many games with a crap defense, and this a huge blow for a team that relies way too much on their Offense.

why do you keep posting the saints defense is ****? You are making yourself look stupid.

How so? did you watch the Saints Defense last season? they didn't do much in the off-season to address it.

Heck a team so unbalanced in the favor of their Offense took a WR in the 1st round. The Saints were a nice story but they cannot beat teams that play physical Defense, and run the ball. They went 1-3 last season vs. the AFC. (only beating the Browns) and got spanked by the Bears in the NFC Championship by 25 points.

Thanks for remembering, good sir.

Last I checked, the Saints weren't in the AFC. As for the latter statement, in case you didn't notice, they got spanked in the NFC Championship Game. You have to have a pretty damn good season to get there.

Look, Brees would have won the MVP more often than not with his season, and it was his FIRST YEAR in a new system. Bush, Colston, and Jahri Evans were major contributors as rookies, and, most of all, the Oline didn't have a single starter returning to the same position from last season. The Ravens were the only physical defense to really spank the Saints.

The Bears DO have a great defense, and did beat up on the Saints a bit (not as badly as the score indicated, it was close until the end of the 3rd), but most their turnovers came off of causing fumbles, something a lot more inconsistant and unreliable than getting pressure on the QB. They did a fairly good job at that, but they certainly didn't terrorize Brees. As much as I love the guy, Payton screwed the pooch in that game. They abandoned the run far too early even though it was doing OK (Deuce only 3YPC, Bush was just under 5, though). If they didn't get so one dimensional, it would have made Brees's job even easier.

Oh yeah, as for not being able to beat teams that can run the ball, last I checked the Colts were even worse than the Saints last year, and they turned out fine. AND they took a WR in the first round.

When the Bears have multiple forced fumbles against almost every team they face I wouldn't really call that "inconsistent."
