thank you. the defense wore out and that was your game. i am not trying to say david is god, but he will do a lot better with teams that aren't led by payton manning, especially when the offense keeps the defense on the field the entire game.

if he gives that kind of space to any receiver he will be burned bad. I also said the defense wore out specifically due to david's poor play

david didn't help the matter any, but the defense just got too tired. blame it on whoever. anyways, here are david's comments on his performance.
Jason David on his performance Thursday night....
"I was out there just trying to do too much, you know, playing against my old team, trying to make too many plays and just not doing what got me here," David said. "Man coverage, you've got to be eyes on the receiver, and the whole night I had my eyes in the backfield and that's going to kill me every time. I'm really glad that happened early, that's one thing I am happy about, that it happened early in the season, and I learned my lesson and I've just got to build."

Looks like he's realized what he's doing wrong, and hopefully is going to work hard to correct it.

The thing about David is that he is not a Man Corner. He is a zone Corner. At this point I think he is just a body. He is holding that spot for Young, for better or worse.

Whaaa, he didn't do his job, playing his old team, what is he a baby? suck it up and play, If he was looking in the backfield the whole night, whaaaa Why didn't he stop after being burned, once or twice? I am stupified by that response

Screw all that, put Usama is the game and see what the kid has, if he is any worse, just put Fred Thomas or Jason Craft in because at least they know how to play man, just not very well. But anyone who defends Jason David is just being a homer, because it wasn't just looking in the backfield, he also got toasted when he ran stride for stride and never looked in the backfield. He was just terrible. If not for him, the defense would have only played badly, because of him, they were horrible.

[quote=UCFNoleFan] Trading out of the second when their are playmaking LBs, DBs, and DL[all huge needs] still on the board to trade down and draft a corner who will likely not even make the dime role?
start usama? give david more of a chance than one game. i really like young and hope that he does work himself into a starting role eventually. for now david will have to do. i like his acknowledgment of what he did wrong. he had a bad game and he knows it. that could change next sunday.

Your right, the week after losing a division game because a corner can't cover anyone is a good time to try someone new. Let him come in off the bench for a week and if he shows he is getting better give him another chance, but if not teams are just going to throw at him and keep beating him until Payton admits he made a mistake and takes David out. Those bombs Peyton Manning was throwing weren't flukes, and they need to get David out.

The thing about David is that he is not a man CB. He is a zone CB, and having him play man all time, hje will get burned. Its not his game.
Who would rather have in a man to man coverage scheme, Drayton Flornence or Nathan Vasher. You take Florence, because while Vasher is the better overall player, he would struggle playing man coverage all the time.

hopefully he will get to where he can play man to man. one game doesn't determine that he is horrible. he is still technically a young corner who has time to learn and develop. he seems to me like he realizes he sucked. it takes time to get out of old habits. i guarantee that he will be focused on this week in practice. he would have been a lot better with fresh legs and payton didn't start throwing all those bombs until the defense was dead on their feet. that first touchdown was a perfect pass that only a handful of quarterbacks and receivers can make. i am just not ready to give up on him yet. i like young but work him in slowly in dime and nickel packages.
