Jets' Washington returns kickoff 86 yards -- Newsday.com
excerpt:
With Justin Miller, the Jets' Pro Bowl kickoff returner and NFL's fastest man, sidelined with a hamstring injury, Leon Washington stepped in and returned an 86-yarder to the 7 that set up the Jets' first touchdown Friday night.
Washington said he didn't remember much about the play - "I just did the easy part of running through the hole," he said - but David Bowens appeared to throw a key block to spring Washington's dash. Washington was caught from behind by David Irons.
Washington was a key punt returner for the Jets as a rookie last year, especially after veteran Tim Dwight was placed on IR. Friday night, Washington showed punts aren't the only kicks he's capable of returning.
