Default Jets Sign RB Leon Washington

excerpt:

The New York Jets announced today they have signed their second pick in the fourth-round of the 2006 NFL draft, running back Leon Washington. The announcement was made by Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Washington, a 5-8, 202-pound product of Florida State University, was selected in the fourth round with the 117th overall pick. He became the first player in the Bobby Bowden era to score a touchdown five different ways (rushing, receiving, punt return, kickoff return and fumble recovery).

Good thing too, he is going to be pretty decent and might come in after Westbrook. Good thing they got him locked up.

The Jets need all the help they can get after a 4-12 season.
I'm also a Jets fan BTW.

im curious mickey, what makes you think that martin's career is coming to an end, I mean I know that he is definitely on the down side of his career, but do you think could be his last year. This guy takes conditioning to a whole new level. He is in better shape than some 27 year olds. I like washington and even houston, but I don't think the jets have martin's successor and his down year was due to poor QB and oline play last year more than his skills declining, he is a sleeper for me this year.

i'm not saying this is his last year, i'm saying he only has maybe four years left in him and the Jets may try spreading the ball around in hopes of finding a successor to him.

Shotenhiemer has allready said martin will share his carries with every runningback on the team and not a 300 carries back anymore

I personally dont think Leon will translate into a good NFL RB.
