Jets running back Curtis Martin won't practice when training camp opens Friday because of a lingering knee injury.

Martin was placed on the physically unable to perform list Thursday, along with receiver Justin McCareins and center Trey Teague. The 33-year-old Martin had arthroscopic surgery last December to clean out his right knee, then was limited during minicamp last month.

This doesn't mean he is injured for the season. I have said it before and I'll say it again. there are so many vets that get these "injuries" to avoid as much time in the hot sun practicing these things that they know like the back of their hand, almost every team has a few vets that are "injured" during the beginning of camp, but will be fine as the season approaches.

The thing about that one is, I am not sure if he is still fully recovered from the surgery, and at his age, that probably means he wont be 100% for the whole season.

His age definitely comes into the picture here, what is he 33, 34. However, martin has always been about conditioning, so his 33 might be another player's 30. I see what you are saying though.

He is one of the tougher backs in the league, however his age became apparent last year, when he got hurt. He has been doing it for so long, that I think it finally ran its toll.
