Former Nebraska and Raiders head coach Bill Callahan was hired as an assistant head coach/offense. His duties haven't been specified, but he's expected to focus on the offensive line and the offense as a whole.
"Bill brings valuable experience as an assistant coach and head coach on both the college and NFL levels," Jets coach Eric Mangini said. "His expertise with the running game and with protections will be a big asset. I look forward to adding him to our staff."
As first reported in The Star-Ledger yesterday, offensive line coach Tony Wise will not return. He has been hired to coach the same position at the University of Pittsburgh.
Jets offensive line coach Mike Devlin, who worked with Wise, will return. The club is still searching for a special teams coach to replace Mike Westhoff, who won't coach next season for medical reasons.
