So, why did the Texans Take Williams over Bush?
So, we all knoe that the Texans made Mario Willaims the #1 choice and passed on Reggie Bush, but why?
The Texans fans wanted Vince Young ( but they already have David Carr) so a QB was not a major concern.
The also have Dominack Davis ( so getting a running back) was not a concern.
But Reggie Bush is not rush a running back...he is a triple threat playmaking machine with skills.
They draft to make the team better...but did they ? And why did they pass on Reggie Bush...was it because...
#1 The family home issue...was his credibility a question. You can't tell me that bush had no knowledge of the fact that his parents were not paying rent...and it is too much of a coincidence that his family got out of there as soon as questions surfaced.
#2 Was it because that (so i have heard) that the texans offered the same contract to both players...williams accepted in a heartbeat, and bush supposedly asked for more money.
#3 The texans really though Williams would help the team win more than Bush would.
Why, oh why did they make this choice....and will they regret it.

#4 The possibility of him being Reggie White and the fact they already have a RB.
Williams just offers too much IMO as a player. I understand it's a business and you need to sell, but that only lasts so long when you are picking first even after you draft Reggie.
Kubiak comes over after leaving Denver as the OC and from all of his time there they have never invested that much in a RB...why start now when you have Davis?
Williams at 6'7 290 has Peppers speed, agility and is already stronger at this point then Peppers is now. How often do you see a DE` with his size and speed combination? How often do you see a RB like Bush? IMO just about every year in the draft you see a RB that is supposed to be as good as Bush and you rarely see a DE like Williams, I like what they did and think it will pay off in the end.

BB's right, the Texans NEED DL and OL to be sucessful.they have a couple of good RB's and being 31st in defense plus Carr gettin' sacked almost every other down. this was the right move.

not only was it the right move, it was a no brainer, columnists who proclaim the texas made the wrong choice are the same fools that said the eagles were fools for taking donavon mcnabb over rickey williams

I think that they wanted Williams all along and were using Bush to make Williams take a lesser offer.
I think they wanted Williams because he would cost less and he did not have any off the feild situations going on. They never got caught up in trading down because they new the Saints would pick Williams.
As far as who will be better were want know till later. Andrew Wadsworth was a big DE with speed but he never did much at all.

This has been said, but the only things they need in Houston are DL and OL. Davis is great at rushing behind a lousy line, something Bush has never had to do, and may not be able to do. I also like the Reggie White comparison. Williams is an amazing athlete, and he in every way deserved to go #1. One solid DT and a couple OG's, and you have a winning team.

I say it was a combination of several things. Money played a small part regardless of what they say, no team will tell there fans they passed on a guy for money. They believe Williams will be a help against the Colts, I would disagree but that's me. Finally, and most importantly in my mind, they are idiots, they are the dumbest team in the NFL, Bush would have sold out the stadium, made millions in revenue for the team, and helped you win games. You can add Winston and a guard to go along with Williams, it wasn't a bad draft; but it wasn't a great draft either.
Also to compare Williams to White is ludicrous. Williams gets shut down by elite Tackles, no one shut White down. Also Williams takes plays off, he gets lazy late in games, White never did that.

Bush would have sold out Reliant stadium? I don't think so. the only way the texans are gonna put butts in the seats is by being competative and gettin to the play-offs.and Bush himself aint gonna do that for them.
