Ahmad Brooks is a retard, if he entered the draft he would have assuredly gotten more money than he is going to get now. He got in trouble and kicked off the team, now he is forced to enter the league through these secondary conditions. I hope this doesn't affect his attitude about playing, because he is going to have to prove himself.

Pats miss Brooks’ workout
By Albert Breer/ MetroWest Daily News
Friday, June 23, 2006 - Updated: 06:35 AM EST

If the Patriots have a serious interest in former Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks, an entrant in the July 13 supplemental draft, they’re holding their cards awfully close to the vest.
According to agent Greg Williams, approximately 40 officials representing 22 teams attended Brooks’ pro day on the Charlottesville, Va., campus yesterday.
The Patriots were not among them.
Had they been, the team may have had some concerns allayed, primarily with Brooks’ weight.
With rumors swirling that the linebacker pushed 290 pounds over the offseason, Brooks tipped the scales at an even 260 yesterday, which is the weight UVA listed him at last fall. And he may have dropped a few more after the workout, as temperatures on the field soared to 110 degrees.
Brooks - who played in a Patriots-like 3-4 as an inside linebacker under Bill Belichick’s old staffmate Al Groh - managed to clock his first 40, depending on who’s stopwatch you were eyeing, between 4.53 and 4.59. He posted his second dash at around 4.68.

Dolphins GM meets with linebacker Ahmad Brooks
BY JASON COLE
jcole@MiamiHerald.com

The Dolphins have taken an interest in former University of Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks, who is considered by many the top player available in the NFL's supplemental draft on July 13.

Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller and director of college scouting Ron Labadie were among those who attended Brooks' workout Thursday.

Mueller and Labadie met with Brooks after the workout.

In addition, the Dolphins sent Brooks to Michigan last week to meet with Lon Rosen, a psychologist and longtime friend of Dolphins coach Nick Saban, agent Greg Williams said Friday.

Rosen does character research on players for Saban.

Williams also said he presented information to scouts, coaches and executives in attendance, showing that Brooks has passed drug tests taken on a regular basis over the past two months. Williams acknowledged that Brooks had ''issues'' with drug use during college.

Brooks was arrested in March 2003 on a marijuana possession charge.

According to two sources, Brooks failed multiple drug tests for marijuana use during college.

That led to the school's dismissal of him from the team this winter.

''Ahmad knows that he has to make good decisions in the future and change the people he hangs out with if he's going to take advantage of the athletic talent he has,'' Williams said. ``He's a good kid who wants to get this turned around and be an example to kids about how someone can change for the better.''

Brooks weighed 260 pounds, down approximately 30 pounds from two months ago. The weight issue is another question for NFL teams.

Brooks was considered one of the top high school players in Virginia history before going to college.

Some scouts have said he has the talent to be a first-round pick.

However, the off-field issues could drop Brooks into the fourth or fifth round of the supplemental draft.

Brooks cost himslef several million dollars easily. Not only that, but he will now struggle to make a team, when had he entered early, and been a first rounder, he would have been given a spot on the team.

I havent seen Brooks play live so i shouldnt talk
but i will anyway =D

i think he's a solid second round pick, sounds like the dolphins, Jags, and 49ers are the ones seriously looking at him

I believe off-field issues are a little overrated, he's top 5 talent who would be a 2nd rnd steal

He is talented, but is a second round pick worth the risk a guy might fail some drug tests again and be Rikcy Williams all over again?

the talent that guy has is definitely worth a second round pick. He could bust out and be bad, but he could be great.
