How do you go through a biggest bust topic and not even mention Russell, this guy is going to be stuck playing behind Oakland's offensive line(which is basically like playing with no offensive line) in a division where everyone hits the QB, and will likely be playing with no Moss and maybe not even Porter... that sounds like a recipe for Leaf part 2. Oakland fans should just start praying the Crypt Keeper, I mean Al Davis, forces them to take CJ, at least he will have an easier time explaining why he was a bust than a "franchise QB" when you have what is becoming a joke of a franchise.
But Quinns protection this year was terrible, especially against top teams. He killed Michigan ( basicly the same UM players as last year) in 2005 and beat USC ( ya, I said it), plus he cut PSU up this year. I think people tend to look at those games that he struggled in, and forget the ones in which he was great. Alot of times this year against good teams, ND's O-Line was outmatched. And I think when Santuccii and Harris get on the next level, you'll see why.
beat USC you deserve to lose if you give up a 70 yard bomb on 4th and 11 from USCs own 8 yard line. push or no push ND had the game won and choked it away like Reche Caldwell drops passes....

It was Fasano's fault, if he hadnt fumbled that catch, we would have broke that game open

despite Oakland's situation and the high possibility of Russell ending up there... I don't think you can call him a bust. Everyone hits QBs??? Alright, well, it doesn't hurt to be 6'6 265+lbs. Russell may not thrive for Al Davis' team, but with his size and arm strength, it's hard not to see him developing into the "franchise QB" and fulfilling some of that hype. Russell is a tough QB... you can't say that the SEC defenses took it easy on him, that wasn't the case.
6'6 235, that doesn't mean when Merriman hits him 8 times a half he feels any less pain. They should trade back and get JT and get a QB in the second so maybe, just maybe he will survive more than 6 games.
did he lose 30lbs??? at the combine, he was over his normal playing weight... he weighed over 265lbs, I think... There are few QBs in the NFL that meet that size and can throw the ball the length of the damn field.. The comparison is made between him and Daunte Caulpepper. Not that Russell's size really has that much affect on his toughness. It definitely doesn't hurt, though.... And he's tough, fo sho. yes, blocking will be the difference in his success initially (esp. going to the Raiders) as it would with any rookie QB, but he will not be a bust. Russell will be a big factor for some team down the line. I think the Raiders obviously need a little bit more than just a "franchise QB".
And a second round QB would be a better fit??? Come on, Nole... I just don't see that happening. With the weapons they have at WR, they've got to fill that QB spot. But Al Davis is taking a liking to Calvin Johnson, and rightfully so. If the Raiders go in that direction, they'll HAVE TO trade to get some experience in the QB position.
