But it wasnt a surprise because it was a well known fact that the Raiders were going to take him. It was stupid, but it was no surprise

I guarantee that if SJ would have turned out to be awesome..........everyone would have a different reaction.

With that said, do you disagree with Mario Williams being #1 on the list as well?

Yes

, I think the fact that he was signed before the draft kills any "surprise".

I know what you mean as a surprise but that pick at some point was still a surprise.

I dont think it has to be a surprise at that moment but just in general.

this should be a list of people that your jaw just dropped when you heard their name called...just couldnt believe it. Everyone knew SJ was gonna be picked and why it seems ridiculous, it was hardly the surprise they are talking about. It might have been dumb to take williams #1, but signing the contract 12 hours prior to the draft kinda kills the surprise factor in it

The title is totally misleading. I think it should be more like Top 10 Unlikely Draft Picks or something like that.

Everyone knew what everyone knew heading into any draft. That's team "A" was interest in Blah, it happens all the time. Janikowski may have been liked but was hardly the lock of a Mario Williams when people KNEW he was the guy. At pick #17 nothing is gauranteed and when that pick came through it was IMO the most surprising pick in a LONG time.

just because its not a guarantee at 17...it might as well been, EVERYONE knew they wanted him, they wanted to draft him with that pick...no other team was in the market for a first round kicker in 2000, because that doesnt ever happen. While it might be a surprisingly stupid overall decision....it was well known at that podium when they were on the clock of who they were gonna take. It should make a dumb pick list, not a real shocker though
