Default Armstrong has a pro day workout

Scout.com: Pro-Day Workout: Robert Armstrong

Eight teams made their way to Baltimore today to watch Morgan State defensive tackle Robert Armstrong workout. A transfer from Maryland, Armstrong is one of several defensive prospects available in July's supplemental draft.

Armstrong measured just over 6-feet-2.5-inches and weighed 318-pounds.

With the threat of inclement weather this morning scouts had Armstrong first work outside before moving indoors for some of the physical testing.

Armstrong's forty times ranged as low as 5.05 seconds on his first one to as high as 5.20 on his second try.

Coaches from the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins ran the position drills.

For the most part Armstrong did an admirable job during his position drills, though he started off a bit sluggish and several on hand told us his conditioning was not great.

The only person working out in hot, humid conditions, Armstrong was run ragged by coaches before being brought inside to lift on the bench.

He was able to complete 27-reps at 225-pounds, though several scouts claimed he short armed four repetitions. Many in attendance attributed the less-than-average bench press results to the fact it was done after the running tests and position drills.

Armstrong later turned in a vertical jump of 24-inches and broad jump of 8-feet-11-inches.

No individual interviews or physicals were set up with teams after his pro-day.

A former Maryland defender who transferred to Morgan State in 2006 after he was declared academically ineligible, Armstrong registered 28 tackles and two sacks during the '03 and '04 seasons. He missed the entire 2005 season with a back injury before running into academic difficulties.

Armstrong then transferred to Morgan State, where he started nine games last year, recording 15 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five sacks. Armstrong will turn 24 the week prior to the supplemental draft.

I wonder what teams were there, besides the Saints and Dolphins. I think that the Saints are the most likely team to go after him. They were willing to sign Thomas after the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Giants there, they need DT help bad. Also, the redskins as well. They have an awful d-line period, what did they get like 19 sacks last year, lol

I would have thought the Dolphins learned their lesson taking a DT in a supplemental draft lol.
