Defensive players alot of time will not mature and be productive long term untill 5 years. Alot of guys that are studs early are duds after 5 yrs. RB,s however are immediate. Seldom does a star RB emerge after 3 yrs. If you look at WR stats some guys start getting 60+ rec and 750+ yds right away and hold that pace some guys like Harrison and Bruce take 3 or 4. IMO RB's immediate, QB's 2-3 , WR's 4-5, and Defense 6-7 overall I would say 8 years.

i think you can get a pretty clear picture of the draft talent after 3-4 years, but won't really know until after 5 years.

there are a ton of guys who put together a couple of nice years and look good after 4 years then bust out after that. also, there are guys that start on the prctice squad and build slowly but have pretty good careers.

You can really see the talent with in a year or two, but to see it at its best it usually takes 3-4 years.

I don't think you can put a number on it, if it takes a guys like Brady some time to get PT, then if you look back early, you won't see the talent that is there. I say you have to wait 5-10 years to get a true assesment.

I'd agree with that. 4-5 years would've been my choice. 3 is a bit too early for them to maximize their potential. 4-5 they should be in their prime (I chose 3-4).
