I seriously hope the Browns take Alex Smith because that will mean the 49ers will have passed on him.

Hate to burst your bubble, guys, but it looks as though the Browns could be avoiding a QB at pick #3.

Although he sidestepped the issue of taking a quarterback at No. 3, Browns GM Phil Savage gave the impression the Browns would not do so. "For every Peyton Manning, there was a Ryan Leaf," Savage said of the checkered history of taking a passer high. "For every Donovan McNabb, there was a Tim Couch and Akili Smith. The air is thin up there and sometimes we don't get enough oxygen."

When asked if he felt pressure to acquire the team's next franchise quarterback now, while he has a high pick, Savage pointed to coach Romeo Crennel and referred to his former team's success with Tom Brady. "I'm sitting next to a coach who won three Super Bowls in four years with a guy from the sixth round," Savage said. "I think it's proven that the quarterbacks come from anywhere. There is no science involved in that one."

I think Derrick Johnson would be better for the Browns at #3. They got Dilfer not saying thats great, Romeo is a defensive mided coach, and the offense wasn't as bad as us last year. Any team in the top 5 usually has alot of holes to fill or one huge glaring issue to deal with. This year Miami and San Fran has alot of glaring issues. Cleveland has several issues as well so it depends on how the organization wants to build....Romeo from NE the GM used to be with Baltimore sounds like a defensive rebuilding priority IMO.
I agree, Romeo is a defensive minded coach and the AFC North is more of a defensive division. The most explosive offense would be teh Steelers and they mainly feed of of their defense. I think going defense would be better.

Plus I dont think its fair to Introduce young Alex Smith to the likes of Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Joey Porter, Farrior, Troy and company.
