I was actually talking to a friend of mine who is a casual Packers fan and we came up with the following first day mock for Green Bay. I'd like to know what more serious fans think of it. Here goes:
1st Round = A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio State
2nd Round = Brian Calhoun, RB, Wisconsin
3rd Round = Maurice Stovall, WR, Notre Dame
I think Hawk is the best player in the draft, period. Calhoun has size issues, but can split carries with Samkon Gado and he's incredibly productive and a great fit for the Pack. Stovall might be gone by then, but a big WR would be a nice addition for a team almost certainly using a new QB. Other options include the following:
1st Round = Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon or Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State
2nd Round = Hank Baskett, WR, New Mexico or Martin Nance, WR, Miami of Ohio
3rd Round = Joseph Addai, RB, LSU
So, what do you all think?

I like it ... but I feel that they will address the DL on day 1 ... Calhoun going to be a solid back in NFL ... Stovall will probably be there in round 3

I think you're way overrating the need to draft a WR early. We have Javon Walker coming back and our '05 2nd round pick Terrence Murphy coming back, in addition to Driver. We then have to choose two of Gardner, Ferguson, Chatman, or others from free agency. Once we get players back from injury we'll be fine at WR.

Good stuff. So, AJ Hawk, Brian Calhoun and a nice DL it is then.

The Packers need help on both lines, more than a LB and more than a RB. Our RBs didn't have holes to run through this year and our LBs always had blockers on them. Both LBs and RBs can be picked up later.
I rather have a great OL and an average RB than an average OL and a great RB, same goes for the defense. The lines make it easier or harder for everyone else.

I dont think OLB is a major need.
Here is how i see it.
1st. Mario Williams DE NC St.
2nd. Abdul Hodge MLB Iowa
3rd. Maurice Drew RB UCLA
Williams, obviously, can tear it up at DE and form a scary duo with KGB.
Hodge steps in at MLB, allowing Barnett to move to OLB where he is better suited. He can tear it up at WILL, and allow them to release Diggs, and have, forgot his name, the rookie last year, to play SAM.
Drew meanwhile will form a good trio with Davenport (who will be resigned) and Gado.

every time i saw green bay play kampman was their most impressive defensive player to me. i don't see them taking a d-end.

I like that. They need an impact linebacker. DE is not a pressing need once Kampman resigns....though I could see a middle round DE with speed being chosen, or a run stuffing DE to spell KGB on passing downs (though they drafted Montgomery for that last year).
As another poster mentioned WR is definitely not an early round need, but neither was punter a few years back (Sherman's gone, I still can't let go). They had depth issues this past year, but freak injuries caused that.....T-Murph's career could be over, even in that case they have too much need at other positions to go high at WR.

The Packers will need help at the linbacker position. Just look at there linebackers. The only notable one is Barnett and he's not even a playmaker. They do need a playmaker on defense and AJ Hawk would be a nice fit. He'll be used to the weather and he'll be an impact player right away. The guy just has a knack for making plays and always seemd to be where the ball is.
As for the offense, they will need to address thier issue at running back and calhoun would be a nice pick in the second round but will he be durable enough for the whole season. But, I do like his running style but he is no Warrick Dunn. as for the recievers go, they can forget about Fergie as he is a BUST. The guy is overpaid, just like Chatman, and never makes a play, just like Chatman.
To bad they'll have a long way before being any good as my BEARS!!!!!!
