omg SDOGO. Please don't ever say that again. Quincy couldn't hold DJ's jock.

DJ Shockley was easily one of the best QB's in the country this year. Before this season everyone's BIG concern about UGA was at the QB position. Well it turned out that he was easily our MVP.

The guy played lights out all year. He single handedly kept us in games we didn't belong in (Auburn, WVU, etc.)

If he didn't get hurt in the Arkansas game and miss the damn Florida game I honestly think we would have destroyed them. (We lost by 4 with a backup QB starting with 0 experience).

Shockley led the SEC in QB rating this year.

He threw 24 TD's and 5 INT's. That is a ridiculous ratio. And we aren't talking against slouch defenses either. He absolutely torched Auburn and LSU both top 5 defenses in the country.

He added another 427 yards on the ground and 4 rushing TD's.

The biggest thing for him this year that stood out to me was his accuracy on the deep balls and his football intelligence. He knew how to run the offense. He knew when to check off, check down, cycle through his targets, and make the right audibles at the right times. I watch the Mark Richt show every week where he goes over the game highlites and talks about the plays and the calls and he was constantly praising Shockley for calling the right audibles at the right time.

NOW.... For the downside. (And why he isn't being talked about as a first rounder AZ Sports fan)...

He's kind of short for an NFL QB. He's listed at 6'1" He doesn't really have trouble seeing over linemen or anything but short QB's generally aren't sought after as highly in the NFL.

Some people say lack of starting experience but I say crap to that. He played in the SEC Championship game and dominated. He has played in big games for 4 years for us and this year started almost all of them.

Leading to his 2nd problem in my opinion.. injuries. He runs alot so he takes some hits and he has paid for them. He missed a game and a half for us this year and it cost us. He also missed half of another season a few years ago after tearing his knee up.

That said I still think he can eventually start in the NFL. The kid has the biggest heart and determination you have ever seen. I would LOVE for the Niners to take him if he falls to the 3rd round or so. I doubt he will fall that far though...

Most QB's are like what... 2 inches taller maybe? That doesen't really matter too much. I would definetly want him on my team.

WTF? Quincy Carter was a beast at UGA and that was before half their players were parade all americans. He started as soon as he stepped on campus and was never challenged. Unlike Shockley, who never would have started a game if he wouldn't have taken a red shirt.

Sorry man but I have studied both of them and besides Dj being a little more mobile, I see the same QB

Wow, no offense bud, but you need to study a little harder. You say something like that on a UGA board and you would get crucified.

Coming from a UGA season ticket holder I saw more of these two QB's than anyone on these boards combined.

There is NO comparison to these QB's except they are both black and mobile and have strong arms.

D.J. is a MUCH more accurate thrower deep and on the run. He is WAY smarter at playing the position. He knows how to read defenses and call audibles. He is VERY smart.

Quincy Carter was dumb as a rock. He made stupid plays. He turned the ball over too much. He was a terrible character person, got into drugs, didn't train hard, etc. Exact opposite of Shockley in that regard.

There was a game against South Carolina the year we were supposed to "win it all", 2nd game of the season Quincy Carter threw 5 interceptions.

They employed a Zone Blitz scheme and Quincy just couldn't figure it out. He was not a smart QB. He had a rifle arm and could run and juke like anyone but he just wasn't a good quarterback.

There is NO comparison between him and Shockley. At all.

Thats like saying Steve Young, Ty Detmer, and Brandon Doman are all basically the same.
