The fastest player I have ever seen in person was Justin Fargas who pulled a 4.32 at the combine in 2003.
I remember there was another halfback at USC with fargas who could flat out fly. Anyone remember who that was?

Isn't Maurice Claurett the fastest guy in the Draft. I think he's trying out again and applying for the 2006 NFL Draft.

Didn't he run like a 4.7 40 last year?

WHO GIVES A FLYING ****?

Seriously.. who cares if it isnt accurate to the ****ing olympics? It is a scale.. and it is the same scale that has been used to measure all the other NFL players. If someone posts a 4.1 40.. it really doesnt ****ing matter if it is innacurate according to Ben Johnson's 40.. so long as it is accurate according to all the other 40 times in the draft/NFL.. because this is a way to gage speed in COMPARISON TO OTHER PLAYERS. SO really.. I dont care if it takes a "real" sprinter 5 hours to run a 40... all I want to know is how fast this player is in comparison to everyone else in the NFL.
That's exactly the point. 40 times are complete bull****, and completely inaccurate from one timer to the next, so why put ANY stock in them. I disagree with you about gauging one players time to others, because it's an in-exact science. When you figure over half the players entering a draft don't run at a combine with the same conditions, timers, etc....and decide to just run at their own school during a pro day....then the combine times are pretty much useless when trying to rate the fastest guy in the draft.

The GMs that are most successful in drafting players put very little stock into these "jaw-dropping" measurables, they're fun to talk about....but these guys sprinting aren't wearing pads, aren't processing information about who to tackle, etc.......Production on the field is what counts. Game tapes are where you can decipher who the fastest guys are....
