A Virginia spokesman told the The Richmond Times-Dispatch that Brooks' "status on our football team has not changed. He is a member of our football team. Ahmad's eligibility to participate has not changed." The paper, though, also reported that a source close to the football program "expressed surprised" that Brooks was still on the team. Brooks had been expected to be a relatively high pick at the 2006 draft, however, opted to return to school for his senior season after an injury plagued junior campaign. I live in Charlottesville, he's definitely in trouble. Until the team is ready to make a definitive statement, of course they're going to say his status on the team hasn't changed.

The Cav Daily (UVA's student run paper) is reporting that Ahmad Brooks is off the team now, and will be for spring practice but that the team expects him to be on the field this fall.
