Sorry it took so long but for some reason I had the worst time getting the stuff I needed. Anyways, I posted him as a CB despite most seeing him as a S. After watching the tape he just looks more natural in coverage then I first expected and he is a little undersized to play S. This all may change once I see his workout at the combine. I'll have a more in depth breakdown after the combine.

Danieal Manning
CB, Abilene Christian

Strengths: Is versatile with average size and speed. Is good in run support, and takes good angles to the ball. Is a solid tackler who wraps up the ball carrier. Is fluid, and changes directions without losing much speed. Has average range in zone coverage. Has good ball skills, and is a natural playmaker. Is a threat to score on any interception.

Weaknesses: Hasn't face elite competition. Needs technique work. Stays too high on backpedal. Shows sloppy footwork. Must improve read/react skills and awareness. Lacks ideal size as a safety and could struggle to cover quicker receivers at cornerback. Shows questionable intelligence.

Bottom line: Manning is an intriguing prospect with versatility. He lacks elite physical tools but could contribute as a nickel/dime player and return man. Pencil him in as late-fifth or early-sixth round pick who could go higher because of his ability to contribute on special teams.

Now you can say you influenced TSN

Those are the two things i love to see in any DB. I wouldn't mind us taking him in the 3rd or 4th.

With a good showing at the combine I don't see any reason why he won't be a day 1 pick.

Wright has him as a 2nd rounder which seems a little crazy at this point in time.

yeah, I have talked to a few scouts about him and the 2nd round seems like a stretch right now. Unless he blows people away with his 40 time by cutting 2 10th's of his 40 from what he ran at Spring Drill I don't see it.

2 10th's.......what has the world come to

wonderlic results from the combine should be interesting to say the least. While official results from his test wonderlic that many prospects take before the combine have never really been released, some that are close to the situations place his scores between 12-16. He also was not that great in the classroom.

None of that is directly responsible for the comment though.

From people I have talked to, Manning is not the easiest player to coach. He relys more on athletic ability then football smarts to get the job done. I don't put much stock into the wonderlic unless your a QB. I don't think those test results define a player but I do believe in ability to be coached and retain information and that's what my comment was directed at.

When you say average size, what are his measurements?

That's above average if he's lookin to play CB, but if that's his college that provided those measurements it's probably inflated some.
