I also think the combination of big trade + #1 pick + New York Media could be very crushing on a young quarterback. Look at Eli Maning for example.

Not to say that Leinart would end up the same way but media in New York would be very hard on him if the Jets give up alot to get him and he doesn't start producing right away.
End up the same way? WTF? 11-5. NFC East Champs. 3762 yds, 24 td, 17 int in his 2nd year. Am I missing something?

If i'm the Texans, i make the Jets trade up another spot, then trade for the #1 pick. IMO, Houston may want Reggie Bush, but they NEED Ferguson, unless they sign a big-name FA O-lineman, and there really aren't any great FA tackles.

I'm not sure if this would be a good move for the Jets. They would have to give up an awlful lot to get the #1 from Texas and the have many other holes to fill. I think they would be better off going after Cutler.

giving up a player thats on the way out anyway isnt really giving up much.

and Eli Manning is fine, especially when it comes to the media. He's never gotten into any trouble with the media, nor has he ever lashed out at them. Maybe you're mistaking him for Ryan Leaf and the Giants for the Chargers, minus the whole trade thing.
