Thumbs down

Panthers:

Safety: Thomas Davis is going to OLB and we lost McCree. Minter is getting up there in age. Look for Darnell Bing to get SERIOUS consideration in round 1.

OLB: There is a little depth here with Seward, Ciurciu and Tuffs but none of those guys look like starting material yet. There is a spot open for one.
DeMeco Ryans or Bobby Carpenter could get consideration in the first but round 2 or 3 makes more sense. Rocky McIntosh or Jon Alston would be targets as athletic weakside types.

RB - we have 2 young RBs (Foster and Shelton) but another back would be nice, especially one that can return kicks as well early on. Shelton is looking like an early bust and Foster has had trouble with health.
If the back they like falls in round 1 the Panthers might just take a shot at him as there appears to be a huge drop off after round 2 on RBs. Its more likely they will look in round 2 or later however.
Maurice Drew, Cedric Humes or Jerious Norwood could be targets if Maroney and White are gone in round 1.

OT - depth is needed. I personally think the Panthers wanted Jamal Brown last year in round 1, so don't be surprised if OT isn't the Panthers first selection. Travelle Wharton was decent at LOT last year but was clearly better at G.
I personally believe that Marcus McNeil is a top 10 talent in this draft and I'd nab him immediately if he is there in round 1. If not, this is a position that has depth in the draft and Carolina could look later on for depth purposes.

IMO - NO TE will be drafted in rounds 1-4.

Dream scenerio:
1. RB - Maroney - has enough size to feature and can return kicks early on. Perfect fit if he is around.
2. S - Bing or Daniel Bullocks - need pick but both have big play potential especially Bing.
3. OT - Trueblood or Whitworth - guys that got it done on the field, but not in offseason workouts.
4. OLB - McIntosh or Alston - speed type players who can find the ball quickly. Both lack size however.

I would expect the Panthers to utilize those picks 5, 6 and two 7s to move around in the first 4 rounds. We need viable players that have some type of chance to make this very talented team.

MLB - Earl Holmes is getting old and doesnt exactly fit the cover 2 idea of a MLB.

OLB - Boss is nice on one side, but dont have much consisentcy on the other OLB spot.

S- Kennedy is nice, but Holt could be improved... hopefully Huff is the guy there.

OG - Demulling sucked balls, again, Woody is nice on one side, but the other side needs drastic improvement

RT - Butler may develop into a nice T, but we need to win now, upgrade here big time.

DE - Hall is nice, Kalmiba is a nice pass rusher, but not an every down DE. Redding is a nice rotational player, but defintely upgradeable to add a pass rusher that can play every down.

TE - Pollard is old, Fitzsimmons is ok, nothing special. Not a huge need, but a TE of the future would be nice.
