Overall, B- (Maybe I'm biased....oh well)

1st round: Tamba Hali, DE Penn St. DE and CB were their biggest needs. I completely agree with the Chiefs taking Tamba Hali, after SD took Cromartie. Just not at #20. I wished they could have traded down a few, but I know Hali is who they really wanted. As I think zimmebri said, you make sure you get your guy. Manny Lawson needs to play in a 3-4, which KC does not play. Hali will start immediately opposite Jared Allen, giving them two DE's with huge motors. He has a nice wide frame, and will get stronger. The kid is only going to get better, as he's only played DE for 2 years. Great closing speed, great heart, and is solid against the run, having played DT for two years. 4 year starter at Penn State. I like him. Just wish KC would have gotten an extra middle rounder with this pick. Oh well.

2nd round: Bernard Pollard, S Purdue. Before the pick, I was hoping for Richard Marshall. This pick confused me, at first. I do like what I read about Pollard and the footage that ESPN showed featured him flat ****ing people up. This guy wants to ****ing kill people out on the field. I see KC using him similiar to how Carolina uses Thomas Davis, as an extra linebacker/safety type who can blow up the run and cover the middle. Pollard is not going to back down from Antonio Gates, I know that. I doubt Vermeil would have drafted such a nasty, trash-talking, bad-***-mother ****er, so I am happy about that Herm is establishing a new attitude with the defense. The sky's the limit for Pollard, I truly believe. Just wish that they would have gotten a starting CB in the 1st 2 rounds since this was such a deep CB class. Pollard was a bit early, but I believe the plan all along was to grab Croyle in the 3rd. If they loved Pollard so much, they needed to take him because I think he wouldn't have lasted past the 3rd. Wishful thinking to make myself feel better about a possible big reach? Perhaps. Pollard can ball, though.

3rd round: Brodie Croyle, QB Alabama. I ****ing love this pick. In three years, the AFC West could be fought between Brodie Croyle, Jay Cutler, Phillip Rivers, and some Raiders ****. I like the Chiefs chances. Croyle is a natural leader who has as good of an arm as Cutler. Unlike Cutler, Croyle actually won some games. He wanted to come to KC as the Chiefs offense is similar to the Tides', and Trent Green will take this kid underneath his wing. Green is has 2-3 solid years left, and I am glad that KC finally made a move to address that fact. In 3 years, Croyle will be ready to take the reins and be a solid NFL QB. I am ecstatic about the accusation of Croyle.

Some circles in Chiefs nation believe that KC passed on a CB in order to make a run at Ty Law. We'll see.

CARL PETERSON: “We’re very pleased to announce our second pick, Bernard Pollard, safety from Purdue University. He’s a very tough guy who’s been very consistent in his play. He’s started 35 of 36 games, plays very hard, leading tackler at Purdue and a special teams’ contributor.

“This is a guy who brings some toughness. This is what Herm wanted and Bill’s trying to produce.“

HERMAN EDWARDS: “Along with our first pick, we’ve brought two players who bring a physical presence to our defense. I think when you get young, athletic guys that are tough physical football players you become a better defense. Both these players can run, are passionate about playing football. (Pollard) can tackle and that’s kind of important. These guys will put their face mask on people and will hit ‘em. You have to have that presence if you’re going to be a physical defense. He’s a big man: 220 pounds, about a 4.5 guy. He can run, very physical. You can put him at the linebacker position; you can put him in the box. He can play special teams.

“These two players are going to play right away for our defense. That’s what we drafted them for. Pollard’s a safety, strong or free. He can play both and he’ll be in the rotation. We just added depth to our safety position and if you look at our safety position that position is kind of light.“

Q: You don’t think corner is light?

EDWARDS: “We have 12 of them right now. You don’t always have to go early in the draft to get a corner. There’s a lot of ways you can find corners and there are already some guys here on this team that can play that position. They haven’t been given the opportunity.

“We went into this draft thinking that if these guys are available at these picks we’d be very excited about getting them and we’re excited.“

BILL KUHARICH: “Size, speed, physical and nasty attitude, special teams skill. He’s blocked three kicks. Is durable playing 35 out of 36 games. Talking with Herm as we were preparing for the draft he gives us strength down the middle, relating it to baseball. You have to be strong down the middle of the field. He brings that ability.“

Q: Why not take a corner at this position?

EDWARDS: “It was where this guy was rated on our board. We felt comfortable. You have to go with your board; you just can’t go reach and get a guy because he is a corner. That’s how the board played out. Now, if there was a corner there that was rated high we might have drafted one. But at this point, I wasn’t going to go down deeper into the draft. We have 12 corners now and there are certainly going to be four or five to make the team.“

PETERSON: “This guy was definitely the highest rated guy on our board – without any question. We were looking for defensive backs and players who can set the tone.“

Q: Is he like Thomas Davis last year?

PETERSON: “I think there are similarities although Thomas Davis is a guy who ended up playing linebacker because he is heavier than Pollard. Pollard is a big physical hitter. There are a lot of things in this game but in the secondary you’ve got nickel safeties, nickel corners, people you want to get in and contribute. This guy is a heck of a football player and he’s proven it for four years. I think he’s the type of player that Herman would like to have.”

Good day, I would have opted to get Hali a few picks down. I'm sure that Larry Johnson Sr. had a lot to do w/that pick. I love Pollard's attitude, let's hope he can play. Croyle is good for the future, we now have our 3rd QB of the future. C+, get your **** together Carl.

Hali was #27 on Gosselin's big board and the Giants would've been all over him at #25 so i'm happy with that one actually. The only other guy in hindsight would've been Jonathan Joseph.

I love the Croyle pick.

Pollard is the puzzling one - just like all our second-rounders. He hits like a ****ing truck but we need a centerfielder.
