WOODLEY'S PLAY LAST YEAR TO ME DIDN'T SEEM LIKE HE'D BE AS GOOD OF A FIT ON THE OUTSIDE AS I THOUGHT HE WOULD GOING INTO THE SEASON. OLB IN A 3-4 STILL MAY BE THE BEST SPOT FOR HIM, BUT HE NEEDS TO WORK ON HIS QUICKNESS AND EXPLOSIVENESS FROM WHAT HE SHOWED LAST YEAR.

I think alot of that had to do with Jim Hermann's defensive philosophy. Under Hermann UM defensive players were supposed eat up space and let the LB's clean up behind them. Under new DC Ron English you should see a much slimmer and nastier Woodley(along with everyone else on defense) since English is preaching speed and quickness in an effort to be more disruptive rather that reactive. This new scheme should really benefit Woodley.

Woodley also played with a handful of nagging injuries last year. He had a couple of games where he was basically playing with just one arm.

So are you doing the same with Woodley since he projects to be more of an OLB for a 3-4 defense?

To an extent although I feel he has the ability to play end too
