Just throwing it out there.
Quote:
Risers
Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville: Brohm, who suffered a devastating knee injury last November, has played well in his first two games. He has completed 58 percent of his throws and totaled 561 passing yards, albeit against a pair of marginal opponents. The Miami Hurricanes loom this Saturday, and the junior can begin to solidify himself as a first-round pick with a good showing.
Kolby Smith, RB, Louisville: The bad luck suffered by running back Michael Bush, who broke his leg during the first game of the season, opens the door for Smith. He was given a fifth-round grade by BLESTO Scouting service, one of two services used by the NFL, and he offers outstanding size and speed numbers. He had been a disappointment on the field early on but is averaging a whopping eight yards on 19 carries since filling in for Bush. It's safe to say that Smith may finally be realizing his potential.
Matt Herian, TE, Nebraska: Two games into the 2006 season, Herian looks like his former self. Relegated to the sideline after a leg injury in October 2004, the playmaking tight end has been a primary target in Bill Callahan's passing offense this season. He's averaging 14 yards on seven receptions with a pair of scores and is once again establishing himself as a downfield threat.
Brian Leonard, FB, Rutgers: He has done the job as a lead blocker, ballcarrier and pass catcher for the Scarlet Knights' explosive offense. After two games, Leonard leads the team with nine receptions and is averaging close to 3.5 yards on 11 carries. He also leads the way for Rutgers' top rusher, Ray Rice, who has run for 309 yards and four scores.
Buster Davis, LB, Florida State: Earning ACC Defensive Honors in consecutive weeks, Davis has come up big during the crucial moments of the Seminoles' first two games. Already drawing comparisons to former Pro Bowl linebacker London Fletcher, Davis has improved his draft stock by two rounds since the opening of the season.
Sliders
Tarell Brown, CB, Texas: As if being arrested on weapons charges was not enough, Brown was subsequently suspended for last Saturday's matchup against Ohio State. As a result, the cover corner was not able to showcase his skills against Buckeyes game-breaker Tedd Ginn Jr.
Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn State: Mistakenly cast as a top 10 pick entering the season, Posluszny has started off slowly. Trying to rebound off a knee injury suffered in last January's Orange Bowl, the active defender has not been the tackling machine scouts expected.
Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC: A potential first-round pick as a declared underclassman, Jarrett was heavily criticized by offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin after playing poorly in the team's opening game. Scouts feel Jarrett's hands are suspect to begin with, so this is not a good turn of events.
Brandon Mebane, DT, California: Since he is undersized and explosive, many were comparing Mebane to former Sooner Tommie Harris, the Bears' first-round pick in 2004. Yet unlike Harris, who was always active, Mebane has been almost invisible during the team's first two games.
Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson: Adams was supposed to be a disruptive defender who made plays behind the line of scrimmage at will, but his play has been uninspired thus far. He was thought by most to be a first-round lock, but coaches shuffled him in and out of the lineup in Saturday's loss to Boston College. His draft stock has taken a hit.
Draft notes
Clemson linebacker Anthony Waters suffered a knee injury in the Tigers' opener and will be on the sideline for the remainder of the year. Grading out as a middle-round choice, the fifth-year senior now must decide whether he will petition the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility.... With inconsistency plaguing the Sooners' offensive line and quarterback position, scouts have found another reason to like running back Adrian Peterson. He is averaging more than 150 yards per game with little help from his teammates.... Louisville running back Michael Bush has a very interesting decision to make. A potential top 10 selection in next year's draft, Bush had a rod inserted into his broken leg last week. He has a redshirt at his disposal. Does he enter the draft or return for another season at Louisville?... Tennessee Volunteers defensive tackle Justin Harrell tore a biceps tendon and will miss the remainder of the season. The defensive-tackle crop for next April was already considered poor, and his injury weakens it even more.

Now you'll excuse me while I exit this thread before Nixon wanks it all over it.

As soon as I saw Leonard there I was thinking the exact same thing.

I agree on Pos, he's looked sluggish out there. I hope he gets back into shape as the season moves on.
Brohm's certainly getting all the hype right now. Let's see how he does v. UM this weekend. This game could catapult him to the concensus #1 QB on the big board.

yeah. I didn't watch the Akron game but in the ND-PSU thread, I mentioned how surprised I was at Connor's play. He looked very good out there.

Troy Smith should be rising.
He's displaying his abilities as a passer, ripping apart both NIU AND Texas through the air.
