I don't really see why we drafted Brandon Williams in the 3rd round if Nolan doesn't bother to use him, although Hicks has played well.

#11: Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
#61: Tony Scheffler, TE, Western Michigan
#119: Greg Eslinger, C, Minnesota
#126: Elvis Dumervil, DE, Louisville
#130: Mark Anderson, DE, Alabama
#161: Chris Kuper, G, North Dakota
#198: Marques Colston, WR, Hofstra
TRADE: #37 for Jevon Walker, WR, Packers
The only additions are Colston and Anderson (replacing WRs Brandon Marshall and Domenik Hixon). Not only are the two new guys among the breakout stars of this draft, they were the biggest sleepers of that bunch. I flirted with the idea of undoing the Cutler deal and using the picks we sent to St. Louis for the #11 spot to select Maroney and Ko Simpson, but there's no way to know if Jay was worth the deal. All in all, I'm happy with how things worked out for Denver in the real draft, but it's going to take some time to see just how that translates on the field.

1.20. Winston Justice, OT (love Tamba Hali but...)
2.54. Darryl Tapp, DE (really like the value he would've presented here... Chiefs needed and took a safety, but would've preferred this route)
3.85. Max Jean-Gilles, OG or Gabe Watson, DT
5.154. Marcus Maxey, CB (stole from our practice squad, couldn't make active roster)
6.186. Jeff Webb, WR (good-looking prospect with some speed)
6.190. Kedric Golston, DT (bulk up inside)
7.228. Jarrad Page, S (looks to have some potential)
Not interested in taking guys who have had a hot 5/6 game start to their NFL careers. I would take the above based on what I would've done right after the draft.
I liked the Hali pick, but I wanted Justice because of the value and the idea that a decent DE could've been had in round two (which was the case). I liked the Croyle pick in round three but would've liked to added OL help.

1. I keep Wimbley and the swap with Baltimore.
2. I keep the trade-up with NO for D'Qwell Jackson ILB.
3. I take Max Jean Gilles instead of Travis Wilson, MJG may be sucking but RAC refuses to use Wilson, so might as well make an attempt at patching up the OL.
4a. Leon Williams ILB Miami surprised everyone and impressed in camp so let's keep him for future depth.
4b. I take Rob Sims OG tOSU instead of Isaac Sowells OT/OG Indiana.
5a. Jerome Harrison keep
5b. DeMario Minter keep, even with the bum knee
6a&b back to back. Lawrence Vickers FB and Babatunde Oshinowo NT. Vickers will be good once we get an OC that knows how to use him, Baba looks like **** but there's no other NT's that have done better so far. So keep both
7. I would say Colston but lord knows RAC wouldn't let him step on the field, so let's keep the project safety Justin Hamilton.
So I guess we went 8 for 10. Never thought of it that way

1st - Ngata (instead of Huff)
2nd - Justice (instead of Howard)
I still like the picks we made because our defense is pretty damn good but these two positions are more areas that need serious improvement right now

#3 = no change, Young
#45 = no change, Lendale White. Henry is playing great, but he still is one toke away from a year vacation.
#102 = Ko Simpson. We took Calvin Lowery....but he seems more of a SS....and someone has to get Lamont Thompson out of the starting lineup I guess Pat Watkins could be the guy at 116.
#116 = no change, Stephen Tulloch. Hope he's the Mike of the future. But there's also Tim Dobbins and Omar Gaither.
#137 = Mark Anderson....over my boy Parys Haralson
#169 = no change, Jesse Mahelona
#172 = Bruce Gradkowski, VY needs a backup better than Kerry Collins
#215 = no change, Cortland Finnegan. Kid looks like a playah. Very fast and great tackler. Plays nickle, but I wonder if he could be a #2 CB, or a FS with a little more weight.
#245 = Kevin Simon
#246 = Who are some of the best UDFA's? I'm drawing a blank.

1) Forget the Abe trade, because while I like 'em when he's healthy, he's really never in that condition. I'd put Maroney in this spot.
2) Keep the trade up, and the focus on the secondary, but at safety. Roman Harper. This also goes against us trading for Crocker.
3) Don't need Norwood at this point, so we'll take James Anderson. He could split time with Chauncey depending on the situation.
4) Alan Zemaitis
5) No change
6) Greg Eslinger
7) Marques Colston -- He'd be nice, but this is just mainly so the Saints can't have him.
