Red face

Here is an extremely early look at the top potential draft prospects in the 2008 NFL draft. Note that highly rated juniors for the 2007 draft could very likely come out, however I am basing this off of who I think will not come out this year based on the talent at their respected positions hypothetically.

*updated 11/8/06

Erik Ainge QB Tennessee SR
Jared Gaither OT Maryland JR
James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio State JR
Darren McFadden RB Arkansas JR
JaMarcus Russell QB LSU SR
Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State JR
Frank Okam DT Texas SR
Rey Maualuga ILB USC JR
Steve Slaton RB West Virginia JR
Dan Connor OLB Penn State SR
Alex Boone OT Ohio State JR
Lawrence Jackson DE USC SR
Mario Manningham WR Michigan JR
Michael Oher OG Mississippi JR
Keith Rivers OLB USC SR
Martellus Bennett TE Texas A&M JR
Justin King CB Penn State JR
Antonio Pittman RB Ohio State SR
JD Booty QB USC SR
Desean Jackson WR California JR
Simeon Castille CB Alabama SR
Brian Toal OLB Boston College SR
Tyson Jackson DE LSU JR
Erick Brock S Auburn SR
Mario Urrutia WR Louisville JR
Kenny Phillips S Miami FL JR
Kenny Iwebema DE Iowa SR
Anthony Gonzalez WR Ohio State SR
BJ Raji DT Boston College SR
Will Arnold OG LSU SR
Jarvis Moss DE Florida SR
Jacob Tamme TE Kentucky SR
Todd Blythe WR Iowa State SR
Jonathan Zenon CB LSU SR
James Hardy WR Indiana JR
Gosder Cherilus OT Boston College SR
Early Doucet WR LSU SR
Pedro Sosa OT Rutgers SR
Josh Pinkard S USC JR
Duane Brown OT Virginia Tech SR
Ali Highsmith OLB LSU SR
Dorien Bryant WR Purdue SR
Limas Sweed WR Texas SR
Marcus Monk WR Arkansas SR
Robert Killebrew OLB Texas SR
Kevin Mitchell S Illinois SR
Jonathan Abbate ILB Wake Forest SR
Dustin Keller TE Purdue SR
Kirk Barton OT Ohio State SR
Maurice Crum ILB Notre Dame SR

If you are curious about why a certain player is not listed, possibly I predicted they would go out early for this years draft.

This is all hypothetical though obviously. However I find it fun to do, and really guys like James Laurinaitis, Malcolm Jenkins, Rey Maualuga, Jared Gaither, Martellus Bennett are such elite prospects how can one not think about next year. Jenkins really might be the most talented CB in the country, Laurinaitis and Maualuga are just insane ILB prospects and are the best at that position arguably and then you have Bennett a TE I would take over any TE in the up coming draft in terms of potential.

Give Boone some more time, he's not that great yet.

I think Boone potentially is that good, sure he might not be but come next season he should be. He rarely gives up a sack and is a excellent run blocker. Also doesn't hurt that he is a mountain at 6-8 325.

Actually I looked and I guess he is a Red Shirt JR, so yes he could come out this year however I do not see why he would do that. When you got the great WRs like Johnson, Jarrett, Meachem, Samardzija, Ginn and Rice all possibly coming out as underclassmen why get in the mix with them? He would be picked higher I believe if he comes back for another season at Ohio State. And I don't know, he just doesn't seem like the guy that would go out early.

He won't come out. Not only is his dad loaded. For a while he was talking about snubing the nfl and becomming a lawer, but that was a long time ago (3 year ago i think.)

I love Maualuga. Hate USC, but love him.

Boone isn't even our best lineman. And he does give up sacks, more than any of our other linemen.
