26 Gaines Adams DE Clemson Sr.
Adams has struggled at times this year but he is too talented to ignore being a first round selection. Jacksonville needs depth along the defensive line and Adams would be a great fit if he is still on the board.

I like that pick... though I don't know much about him.

BTW, who's Jeremy Osborn? He has the Jaguars taking a WR in the 1st round??? I'd like to hear his explanation as to why we need another WR with Matt Jones and Reggie Williams still in their development stages.

I'd have no problem taking Poz as a replacement for Farrior. Willis might project better for that, IMO.

I'm really liking Buster Davis. Pos. Not so much.

First off wouldn't the Broncos consider Greg Eslinger their center for the future? They drafted him last year and he is athletic as they come, when comparing the two he made current starter for the Broncos and University of Minnesota center Ben Hamilton look quite average athletically and talent wise.
And it is a tough pick for the Raiders, however if they were sold on Walter and did not pick Leinart in the 06 draft I do not know if they will change their mind. Walter has look ok and could be a solid QB if he had an offensive line and a defense that helped him out a little. Just think though of the Raiders with Moss as a deep threat and Johnson as the second option. Not only does Randy Moss still get triple teamed and almost constantly double teamed, getting Johnson would either loosen up the coverage on Moss or Johnson himself could have a field day on the field with single coverage. Porter is obviously gone and they need another solid WR to go opposite of Moss.

If anything Oakland could pickup a QB like Stanton, Palmer, Palko or Stanback later in the draft, all decent QBs with good arms. Then they could get an OL later in the draft like Otto, Sears, Harris, Free or Marten.
It is all up to team needs though, its strange how rare do teams draft on just talent anymore.

Thanks for the e-mail Ozzy...

You may be right with Denver......Kyle Young could still be the pick but I should stress it is more on versatility not center so you are right. Young has played every position but LT at Fresno State so his versatility is probably his biggest attribute.

As far as Oakland....I disagree there...first off they didn't pass on Leinart because of Walter....they had Huff pegged for about 1 month before the draft. I think they would have considered Vince if he was on the board but he wasn't. Leinart was never a serious option. Could they take a QB later...of course...no doubt. I think their best bet is to trade out of that spot if that is where they land but in all my years of covering the draft they are the most unpredictable team to get a read on....last year the Huff pick was the first predictable thing they had done in some time. to the point where they are predictable to do something unpredictable.

Thanks again.

Yes, you can see I just eluded to that.....nicely done SDOGO

The Raiders did provide one of the my greatest draft moments ever though....there live at the 2004 Draft and I was hanging out with Raiders reporter Keith Sarson in the second round. I was actually down at the Raiders draft table on the floor in front of the stage where the picks are announced. I got down there because I was hanging with Keith and he was doing an interview with Ray Guy (who was there giving out information on his kicking camps).

So the Tennessee Titans table is directly behind us and nobody is there manning the table (which is not supposed to happen)...the Titans were about to make their first picks (they had no first rounder that year...they made a deal with Houston to land them a 3rd second round selection so they were selecting #40 and #42 in round 2).

The Titans phone starts to ring and we see both Titans personnel (2 people assigned to each table) talking to an NFL official maybe 50-60 feet away but they aren't answering the phone. Another member of our party picks up the phone and we all freeze. He says "We got the message, we're taking Kaeding and Lee". I then hear him say "Andy Lee, you know the punter" and he hangs up the phone. It is always an inside joke there when covering the draft when trying to figure out who a team will take or if you are unsure you give them a kicker, punter or long-snapper. So there are about 5 or 6 of us that just start rolling with laughter and we look back at the Titans guys. At that moment they look down and both answer their cell phones.

Needless to say one of the guys thought it was funny and took it in jest, the other was rather annoyed because apparently the team wasn't very happy and they got yelled at. In the end I think Ben Troupe and Travis LaBoy were better than the Nake Kaeding-Andy Lee combo we were going to give them. Or so the team thought I don't know if the cards for a pick were actually available to us at the time or not.

As you can see...the Raiders are unpredictable and sometimes they try to pass that along to other teams.

So many memories of covering the draft since 1999 and since 2000 live and in person...I could probably do a whole thread just on stories....Leonard Davis, the Vick Brothers, catching passes from Steve Young, being a battering ram for Sean Salisbury, the Eagle fan in the thong, holding Peter Warrick's daughter, a punch thrown at me from one of Jimmy Kennedy's old coaches....good stuff.

The fact that I don't have Buster in round 1 makes me think I should have revisited that...lol....I like Davis a lot.
