Tom Z, IMO, is a John Lynch type Saftey. He isnt the biggest or fastest but he hits like a load of bricks. In the NFL, he'll likely be exposed in coverage, similar to Lynch, and will need to really play within a scheme that can help cover that weakness in order to be succesful. For Denver, he would be perfect to take in the mid rounds to learn from Lynch for 2-3 years until Lynch retires.

I'm really hoping Philly take Meriweather, even though he has the "attitude" problems. For example, Sean Taylor has the same issues, if not worse, but im sure every team in the NFL would love to have him on the roster. Meriweather's gun issue was in self defense and it was a registered gun. His fight was serious but in that case, you should say that most Miami players should have their stock fall WAY down because of it. It was a fight in the middle of a game, heat of the moment, etc. I wouldnt drop his stock too far. If he falls to the 2nd round, i would love to have Philly take him or, if necessary, trade our 4th and Darwin Walker to move up and try to grab him since we dont have a 3rd, assuming we resign Stallworth.

Right now, I'd say the Broncos are in need of two safeties: a ballhawk who is good in coverage to play along side Lynch immediately and another that plays more like him to be his eventual successor. If Reggie Nelson of Florida declares for this draft (a real possibility considering the season he's having) then I think the Broncos will definitely have a shot at Michael Griffin, Aaron Rouse or Eric Weddle near the end of the 1st round. That's good news. Sabby Piscitelli, Josh Gattis and Tom Zbikowski are all tempting if they're available in the 3rd or 4th rounds. Snagging one of the first group and a complimentary player from the second bunch would be very nice.

Rouse is an animal... I'd love to see him in a Bronco uniform...

We have to work on the defensive and offensive line a little more though, possibly get a prospect at TE, a good KR/PR, and maybe a RB... Should make out for an interesting draft...

I'd be absolutely estatic of we worked out a draft like this:
1st round: Amobi Okoye - DT - Louisville
2nd round: Aaron Rouse - S - Virginia Tech
3rd round(A): Michael Bush - RB - Louisville
3rd round(B): Mark Fenton - C - Colorado
4th round(A): Steve Breaston - WR - Michigan
4th round(B): Mason Crosby - K - Colorado

And whatever for the final 3 rounds...

Imagine how NASTY Mike Bush would be in a Bronco uniform

Or maybe we could package some picks up, along with Jake, and move up to get a guy like Teddy Ginn, Calvin Johnson, Lawrence Jackson, or Gaines Adams

I think Rouse, Bush and maybe even Crosby will be gone by the time you have us picking them in your mock. Furthermore, I'm not sure Okoye is worth a 1st round pick, we already have our future starting center in Greg Eslinger and Breaston certainly doesn't impress me. Moreover, I think we're set at RB with the Bells, we still have to give Tony Scheffler some more time before giving up on him and I think we drafted Domenik Hixon as our return guy but he's been injured (?). Sorry to rain on your parade like that, but that's my opinion.

I advocated trading either of our first round picks last year for another one this year with the hopes of packaging them in a deal that could net us an impact player in this draft, but that didn't happen. I'm not sure we'll be able to do that this year with our current picks, but I might like to see them try.

As it stands now, I think our top needs are: safety (one ballhawk and one hardhitter), DL (pass rushers at DE and DT), an impact WR, LB depth (both inside and outside) and OT depth. Obviously we could select another player for value if he falls to us, but these are our areas of concern. I'll put up a mock that address all of those sensibly as soon as I can.

Reggie Nelson to me is without question the best safety prospect this year as a JR. I would take him over any of the great SR safety prospects. Nelson arguably is the fastest safety and he is the best in pass defense and hits as hard as anyone. The kid is a gamer and will most likely follow the path that Donte Whitner took last year in being a 1st round pick at safety as a underclassman because of his speed.

I'm hearing that he is flying up draft boards because of his great coverage abilities.

and as I say that, I read on scout that teams are considering that he could be moved to corner...

reggie nelson is the most versatile db in this draft.sort of this years michael huff.
has played fs,ss,and cb and can play all of those in the nfl.
the best position for him though would be fs.
he can also return punts and probably kicks.
total hustler and a team player.
his mom has cancer and he will probably leave after this year.
hopefully he wont get his career ruined by getting drafted by the donkies.
