I don't like Merriweather at all. Shouldn't he fall 2-3 rounds just based off his baggage? Or do you think he'll still be picked highly? I don't see JAcksonville picking him... I'm not a draft expert, but I like Nelson and Griffin better than Merriweather.
The Jaguars are only a couple players away from being a true contender in the AFC, so Jacksonville could trade up if they make the playoffs this year on a 10-6 record. Or they would trade down into the 2nd round... they have been money in that round.
No problem.

The baggage that Meriweather possesses probably will drop him in the draft but he is highly talented so who really knows, my guess is he ends up with the Bengals. (Just kidding Bengal fans)
I thought about Jamarcus Russell but I thought there are more needs for the team at this point and you can probably get someone a little later in the draft if necessary but if they really have given up on Garrard and Leftwich then hes a great pick at this point.
I think Reggie Nelson will be gone by the time you guys pick and Griffin will probably be around in the second round in my mind if the Jags wanted to take him.

We need a true #1, and I don't see Ginn as that. Unless Calvin somehow ends up to us, I see us taking defense.

Hmm really, I thought that with the chance to take Ginn you guys would take him especially with the lack of playmakers and Norvs offense. Also Ginn would be able to return punts and kicks for you guys and provide a spark sort of like Reggie. I can also see Norv and Nolan finding many different ways to get the ball into Ginn's hands and let him make some plays for the 49ers.

That's the team I first thought of when I thought "who would take a risk on that idiot?"
Wouldn't Russell be a clone of Garrard? OR does he actually have a good arm? I've heard comparisons to Culpepper. Russell is what... 6-4? IT seems like he would fit our offense. If Troy Smith was 3-4 inches taller, I'd say the same thing about him. As long as he has a Byron Leftwich type of arm, with more mobility, then I'd jump on his bandwagon.
Nelson's a top 20 pick I'm guessing... but yeah... the Jaguars probably will go FS in the 2nd round. 1st round has been all offense so far for JDR... it wouldn't suprise me if they went offense again. WR and QB are the only weak points on offense.

Russell is listed as 6-6 260, yet he provides adequate mobility from what I have seen, and he has the strongest arm in the draft in my opinion so he would fit your offense very well. Its just hard to tell whether or not the Jags have given up on both of their quarterbacks who are somewhat similar to Russell.
WR is a definite possibility but if they wanted to get a gamebreaker they would have to trade up IMO unless they are willing to reach for someone like Samardzija or Meachem.

So he's a mix of Leftwich and Garrard? I'll probably jump on the JaMarcus Russell bandwagon soon.
As for WR... I'm not think of Calvin Johnson. I want the Jaguars to take Johnny Lee Higgins.... of course, I'm a UTEP homer, but he reminds me so much of Marvin Harrison and Steve Smith. We need a quick, small, deep threat type of WR... and then our offense would take off. Even with Garrard. Leftwich would do great with Higgins.

Ya basically he is a mix of the both of them.
Ahh I got you well IMO he will be available later in the draft if thats who you want and he is a good reciever to be had I would love to see the Lions take him or Steve Smith later on in the draft.

I think in this scenario we take Joe Thomas, or make everyone think we'd take Joe Thomas and end up trading down. We're going to have a ****load of holes, and if Quinn is off the board, I think we try to trade down and just rebuild big time. I don't see us burning a #3 overall on a DE, that position has never been one of critical importance for us as far as using our top picks on. Kiffin and company have always been able to find solid players for less than a #3 overall at end.
If we end up in the top 3, we're going impact player. I don't think Adams is that, not right away.

I don't doubt that you're right at all, in fact it makes a lot of sense to take Ginn, I'm just not sure he could be a true #1 for us, so I'm hoping for some defense at this point. If I'm wrong, I hope Ginn proves me wrong, especially since we drafted Brandon Williams last year to return kicks and punts, but who knows with Nolan, he usually just goes BPA.

Im not saying that you are wrong at all either I can definitely see where you would want someone on defense after looking over there team a little bit. I think that defense is a very good option for you as well. Either way I like the way your team is improving and anything they do will help them take over the NFC West in 07.
