Red face

Here goes my first attempt at a mock draft this year....

Tell me what you guys think

1. Detroit Lions- Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
Being a fan of the Lions I would love to see them get Joe Thomas and get his as a building block for the future, but having Millen as GM still he’s probably going to go for the poster boy of Brady Quinn.

2. Oakland Raiders- Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech
I don’t think that Al Davis will be able to resist Calvin Johnson especially with all of the troubles that he has at wide receiver and Johnson will give Art Shell the real deep threat that he needs for his offense.

3. Tampa Bay- Gaines Adams DE Clemson
Simeon Rice isn’t getting any younger and the Bucs pass rush isn’t getting any better, therefore insert Adams into the lineup and let him provide a pass rush they desperately need.

4. Arizona Cardinals- Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
Obviously the Cardinals need help with their offensive line because its like the watching water go through a strainer with the offensive line that they have. Therefore Thomas provides the cornerstone left tackle needed for a dominant offensive line.

5. Houston Texans- Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
The Texans are thanking God that they were able to be terrible enough to get a high enough pick to grab the best running back off the board and hopefully make their fans forget about Reggie Bush and Vince Young.

6. Cleveland Browns- Alan Branch DT Michigan
I believe that Alan Branch is the best defensive tackle in this class and I may be partial being a Michigan fan but the agility that he possesses will allow him to be dominant in the 3-4 defense Crennel runs in Cleveland.

7. Washington Redskins- Antoine Cason CB Arizona
Washington has the weapons on offense to be successful they just need someone to make an impact on defense and I believe that Cason will wow people at the combine and it will dramatically improve his stock.

8. St. Louis Rams- Paul Posluszny LB Penn State
St. Louis has been looking for an OLB since they got Tommy Polley and this seems to be the year with the two-time Bednarik award winner available.

9. Minnesota Vikings- Dwayne Jarrett WR USC
The Vikings already have the deep threat wide receiver in Troy Williamson now they just need the big time possession receiver to compliment him and take pressure off of him. Perfect spot for Jarrett.

10. San Francisco 49ers- Ted Ginn Jr. WR OSU
The 49ers won’t think 10 seconds about this pick Goddell wont have enough time to smell his fart the 49ers will get Ginn to stretch defenses out which will make Gore more productive. Scary thought.

11. Carolina Panthers- Brian Brohm QB Louisville
The Panthers want a replacement for Delhomme badly and will jump on the opportunity to take Brohm when it is presented to them.

12. Green Bay Packers- Marshawn Lynch RB California
The Packers are happy to get Lynch at this spot because they need a replacement for Green and he can come in his rookie year and contribute as well if he is needed.

13. Miami Dolphins- Daymeion Hughes CB California
Dolphins need secondary help and Hughes can step in right away and start for the Dolphins and they will improve an already outstanding defense.

14. Atlanta Falcons- Laron Landry FS LSU
The Falcons need a safety and they will gladly take the best safety available in the draft at the spot that they are in.

15. Kansas City Chiefs- Frank Okam DT Texas
Kansas City can get a plug here that will help their run defense improve very much and Okam can also provide pressure on the passer as well.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers- Sam Baker OT USC
The Steelers need to improve their offense line badly and won’t mind reaching here to get some help so Ben doesn’t end up getting killed on the field (who knows what he will do off of it).

17. New York Giants- Reggie Nelson CB/S Florida
Reggie Nelson has been playing fantastic for the Gators down the stretch and he greatly improved his draft stock and may be able to help it more when he matches up with Ginn and Gonzales on January 8th.

18. Buffalo Bills- Justin Blalock OG Texas
The Bills maybe hesitant to take an offensive linemen from Texas in the first round (Mike Williams) but Blalock is much better and will open up running lanes for McGahee for years to come.

19. Tennessee Titans- Aaron Rouse S Virginia Tech
The Titans need help in the secondary and Rouse provides an outstanding athlete with experience at both safety positions to come in and make an impact right away.

20. New England Patriots- Patrick Willis LB Ole Miss
The Patriots use their first pick in the first round to pick a young linebacker that they can put into the starting lineup right away and watch him rack up the tackles.

21. New York Jets- Quentin Moses DE Georgia
The Jets need someone to replace the pass rush they lost with John Abraham going to Atlanta and Moses provides along with the ability to stand up and play some linebacker with his versatility.

22. Philadelphia Eagles- Rufus Alexander LB Oklahoma
The Eagles need a replacement for Trotter SOONER or later and why not take a Oklahoma Sooner here and let him get experience from Trotter then let him loose when Trotter retires.

23. Denver Broncos- Lamarr Woodley DE/OLB Michigan
The Broncos desperately need a pass rush to replace the Cleveland Browns front 4 so they get the best defensive end in the draft that is also able to play a little bit of linebacker if needed.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars- Buster Davis LB Florida State
The Jaguars have another needs but they take the BPA at this spot because everyone else maybe to much of a reach and linebacker I feel is a position of need for this team even though I will probably be debated for it.

25. Cincinnati Bengals- Greg Olsen TE Miami (FL)
The Bengals are only really missing one thing in this offense and it is a playmaker at the tight end position and that is what they are going to get with Olsen.

26. Dallas Cowboys- Leon Hall CB Michigan
The Cowboys desperately need someone opposite of Newman and they will take Leon Hall to step in right away and make plays for them at the cornerback position.

27. New Orleans Saints- Marcus McCauley CB Fresno State
The Saints need someone to take over for Fred Thomas who is getting up there in age and McCauley will provide this for them and will develop into a lockdown corner.

28. New England Patriots- Jeff Samardzija WR Notre Dame
The Patriots use their second pick to gamble on Samardzija so that they can provide Brady with a weapon to develop along with Jackson and who better then a wideout from a rival school of Michigan to let Brady throw to for the next decade.

29. Baltimore Ravens- Kenny Irons RB Auburn
The Ravens use this pick to select a tough running back from the SEC to replace another tough running back form the SEC so that they will be able to put some points on the board to help out that defense.

30. Indianapolis Colts- Brandon Siler LB Florida
The Colts will use this to select someone that will help their run defense and Siler is a tackling machine and will fit in perfectly because he actually isn’t afraid to hit somebody.

31. San Diego Chargers- Robert Meachem WR Tennessee
The Chargers need a wide receiver to take the pressure off of Gates, Tomlinson, and Rivers and Meachem improved very much over the year and will continue to improve and move himself into the first round where the Chargers will be glad to take him.

32. Chicago Bears- Joe Newton TE Oregon State
The Bears need another weapon to help out Grossman because he is inconsistent and maybe that is because he isn’t presented with enough weapons to be successful who knows. They grab a much needed young tight end to help out their offense.

I agree with the Browns pick, our DL is abysmal. I'd pretty much be alright with anyone as long as they don't bust.

I'm obviously hoping Millen won't be the GM but regardless of who it may be the Lions have no buisness whatsoever passing on a potential franchise QB. So I agree with this pick.

He plays right guard for Texas but Im sure he could play either if necessary he seems to be versatile.

Yep, you're right. I will debate it.

With the emergence of Clint Ingram, I really don't think LB is a need anymore. FS will be our biggest need unless Deon Grant is re-signed. WR is also another position I could see the Jaguars going with in the 1st round. QB as well if the front office feels they need one. Garrard defintely isn't the answer, and Leftwich can't stay healthy. We could use a developmental DE, but I see that as a position for the 2nd or 3rd rounds of the draft.

My bad I was unaware Grant's contract was up at the end of the year I actually did think about putting Meriweather there but with all of his issues I wasnt sold on the pick, would he work better for you guys? I will keep the others in mind for the next mock that I do, thanks.

I don't like Merriweather at all. Shouldn't he fall 2-3 rounds just based off his baggage? Or do you think he'll still be picked highly? I don't see JAcksonville picking him... I'm not a draft expert, but I like Nelson and Griffin better than Merriweather.

The Jaguars are only a couple players away from being a true contender in the AFC, so Jacksonville could trade up if they make the playoffs this year on a 10-6 record. Or they would trade down into the 2nd round... they have been money in that round.

No problem.

We need a true #1, and I don't see Ginn as that. Unless Calvin somehow ends up to us, I see us taking defense.
